Send anybody but Sergei Gonchar. My head will explode if we take on another Muscovite. - RickJ
No worries, Rick. Gonchar is an UFA. |

Rick...don't mean to be picky, but I don't think any of the 3 Russians the Hawk acquired are from Moscow. |

Sharp for Abdelkader - Dannyboy
No way.
I'd like to see Sharp in the Winged Wheel but not at the expense of Abdelkader.
Would the following trade work for the Hawks?
Hawks send Sharp + 1m retained salary to Detroit
Detroit sends 2016 2nd Rd Pick, Jakub Kindl, and Dominic Turgeon?

This would give the Hawks a savings of 2.5 million per year and a serviceable 5-6 defenseman. I'm not saying Kindl is a stud in any means but he's better than what you currently have at the 5-6 spot. |

You keep Kindl. The Hawks will keep the 1M. |

Waiting is hard… If you don't mind the bean counting, we can look at the numbers for moving Sharp, Versteeg, and Bickell. John, I took your updated blog plus your guesses on the previous blog:
"Sharp to FL, MON, NYI, PHIL, NJ
Versteeg to WPG, SJ, AZ, CGY
Bickell to AZ, VAN, CGY, FL, WASH"
Here's HockeysCap.com cap space data and the players they have signed.
Montreal - 6.9M left:
-must re-sign Galchenyuk and another forward to get to 13 Forwards…
--> salary would have to be coming back…
Florida - 14M left:
-have just barely cleared the cap floor
-Huberdeau is RFA
-Need 4 forwards and a defenseman to get to a 22-man roster
--> NO SALARY coming back is a possibility
NY Islanders - 9.2M left:
-Brock Nelson is RFA… probably pricey
-need 1 forward and a D to get to 22 on the roster
--> some small salary could come back based on Nelson's price
Philly - 4.5M left:
-roster is full
--> some salary would come back
Toronto - 13.6M left:
-need a goalie
--> NO SALARY coming back is a possibility
Detroit - 5.4M left:
-several RFA's to sign
--> Salary would come back
Dallas - 9.5M left
-need a D
--> NO SALARY coming back is a possibility
Boston - 4.9M left:
-need a F and a D
--> Salary coming back
Washington - 15.9M left:
-RFA's are Holtby, Johannson, and Kuznetsov … pricey indeed
--> Salary coming back
Bickell and Versteeg:
-Calgary and Arizona and Winnipeg have space w/ AZ needing to fill out its roster
-Vancouver has $4M and SJ has $2.8M… so only Versteeg can go here..
Looking at the numbers, unless Bowman can send Sharp to Toronto, Florida or Dallas, he HAS to take back salary. This means that not only Bickell but Versteeg MUST also be moved. If that proves troublesome, then I think Crawford has to be moved…
We need to clear $10M to be able to sign JO and MK for around $6.5M. If $2M comes back for Sharp, we've cleared $4M. If Crawford goes for a $4M goalie, we've cleared another $2M. Versteeg for an $1M player coming back only gets us $1M more in space. Does someone take Bickell and prospect with us retaining $1M in salary???? Thus we clear $3M for him… That's a total of $10M.
I was really hoping to keep Crawford for one more year, but jeez… Everything has to work according to plan... |

Re Mexico Hawk
I for one, really appreciate your insight and I know JJ does also. Those that seem to always question you just don't have the inner contacts that you do because of your previous life as a NHL player. Please continue your posts because to me you are a breath of fresh air on this site and I'm sure those true Hawks fans agree |

Yeah, we already got Morin back. Too bad J.Hayes signed with NYR or we could get the old gang back together. What's Dylan Olsen doing these days?

Again....RE:Crawford....full NMC. Just dont see it. Best asset is Sharp. Just hope SB prioritizes cap space over return at this point.

I'd love that trade if I was a Hawks fan.
JJ you do a great job with your blogs. Your team should be happy to have you. I'm glad the Wings have Duff, it's been nice having consistent blogs to read. You've been the model of consistency for the last couple of years.
As somebody closer to things what do you think it would take for the Wings to land Sharp? |

If as you say JJ, that they can only move Sharp and Versteeg "they may need to trade Crawford" Can they not buyout Bickell, have an extra $3m this year and keep CC? |
