He would not play in the AHL. That's why he went to the K to begin with - JRoenick97
Yes, we know. It has been discussed here whether he would still maintain that demand with the Hawks vs the Isles. I think the trade may indicate he did. |

Don't really think Nilsson had any relevance to the Leddy trade bc it seemed like a G swap of Simpson & Nilsson. Pokka is the prize of that trade, throw-ins & swaps don't count..... - Ur Not Me
Goaltenders in trade don't count for much. When it gets down to moving bodies with little potential to play in the NHL the 2 GM's take one goalie and give one back - no other reason than just because they do.

Made the AHL All-Rookie Team this season, and looks to have some upside. Depending on how far he progresses between now and camp, he MIGHT (and I'm stretching that word) get some serious consideration for a job in camp. |

Patience. I think he's still a year away. Maybe gets a shot this year but think it'll be 2016-2017 season. - MNHawk
Agreed. However, I would expect that he'll get a look sometime this coming season. |

What the trade netted the Hawks is what counts here. Brennan was unloaded for a career AHLer (like Brennan). Simpson wasn't expected to make it here. Nillsen had more value so hardly a swap.
Nillsen had a strong KHL year but the Hawks probably like Coughlin. He was a 5th rounder but sounds a bit like SHaw - a late bloomer. Pokka has done nothing yet in the NHL but he was the prize for us. Time will tell what the prize was worth. |

Well, don't forget they are getting the kid from Edmonton. He's going to college next year at Boston so I'm sure he's pretty good. Decent size, 6'2". So the Hawks got something for the Nilsson kid. |

I believe the 7 Canadian teams account for 35% of HRR
While the other 23 make up the rest
A team placed in Quebec or another in ontario will surpass Seattle or Portland
Logical moves of phx and fla would bolster the league very quickly - MTL1
Discussion on NHL Radio today that Houston is actually a very viable future NHL city, albeit with no current ownership group. 4th biggest USA market, high income due to corporate HQs and oil and gas revenue, plus a history of hockey dating back to Gordie Howe and his sons, with the Houston Aeroes. Plus, they were almost included in the NHL-WHA merger. |

Houston has the building, the team name, and the history (WHA-IHL-AHL). Does it have the group willing to pony up the money and operate a team?
The same thing was in the news a day or two ago about Kansas City with the lack of an ownership group. |

The Leddy trade was similar to what you will see for Bickell and Sharp...
Those are "have to' trades anything gotten in return that could be considered useful is a bonus.

Did have a great logo
Team left over a year ago
Fun times going to those games
Never missed one when the boys were in town
When j scott was on the team there were some short bouts
Love a team here but the owner of the arena hates hockey
He pretty much did what zona is going through, so they moved to Iowa.

Interesting but...I think Seattle is kind of lurking as everyone focuses on LV.

When Houston moved to Iowa, I read something that the owner of the Toyota Center would only be willing to use the building for hockey if it involved an NHL team.
Is that true, or does the building ownership just not want hockey in the building in general? |

Agreed, and no owner in HOU sort of makes the point moot. But could be an alternative for the Phoenix/Arizona franchise, if they need an alternative.
The NHL could also create a southern division with TB, FLA, HOU, DAL, NSH, CAR |

Per JJ on Twitter Sharp should soon be asked to waive to come here. Trocheck going the other way. |

Maybe it will be Sharp and Versteeg for a couple of low picks or Shawn Thornton. - RickJ
I mean "salary dump" from the standpoint that FLA doesn't have to send salary back, still should be a decent return regardless |

Would have thought trocheck would be a target if saad was still in Chicago. Kind of a piny sized player. Personally i prefer mccoshen but im not a coach, gm, or scout. #Instanwetrust |

Not sure how that "division" would fit with an Eastern and Western Conference arrangement. |
