I think its "who" is on the ice.
I am glad you you think Wilson is swell, I continue to think he was a first class as*hole for the way he handled the team after it lost to LA. But we can agree to disagree. - hit 'em
More people agree with you for what it's worth. |

I think we need a right handed shot though on that line .....that just leaves either Ward or Karlsson - SJSharks39
We had two righties with jumbo last year. I think that handed shot is overblown at times. Its about who complements the line. Karlsson went to the dirty areas and retrieved pucks for pavs and jumbo. It was an offensively effective line. With hertl and couture i think a little more speed would complement them. Hertl has big size and can go to the tough areas. Couture can stay in the slot and snipe. Nieto can beat players to the puck and retrieve it while drawing guys to him creating space for his line mates. He also can create some space in transition with his speed allowing hertl's skill and coutures snipe to have more space. Ward is better suited for the third line who can go to the dirty areas for tierney and who ever plays on his other wing (preferably a young guy trying to make his way with skill like goldy, jevs, or donskoi). |

Edit: B/C if you have Nieto in the 2nd line you'll have an all lefty 2nd line & then have an all righty 3rd line. I don't like that at all. - SJSharks39
Tierney is a left hand shot. |

Yeah i agree with ya, i just kept thinking Tierney was right handed for some reason & i wouldn't want a all same handeness on 2 lines that was where i was coming from but i was a dum dum thinking Tierney was right handed. I guess i'll tell myself to (frank) off. |

To me marleau should hide with jumbo or in the bottom 6. Couture has carried him enough this past year. |

Yeah i think you put Marleau with the joe's that's the best way to get the most out of him. But I'm also confidant at some point though either or both of Joonas or Goldy will make there way on the team inthe top 9 at some point during the season. |

I would agree. It is nice to have so many young guys with potential to play on both the top 6 and bottom 6 replacing guys like brown and scott. We have a good stable of young guys competing for nhl ice time: Donskoi, Goldy, tarasov, jevs, goodrow, and chartier, after his junior season unless he impresses at camp. |

I agree. Based off the current convo between you and 39 and barring any other significant moves, Pete should try this top 9:
Patty-Joe-Pavs
Hertl-Logan-Melk
Nieto-Tierney-Ward
I like the balance of all 3 lines. And some of us get our righties playing RW |

It seems that something we all agree on is that the forward group should look like this
Marleau Thornton Pavelski
Hertl Couture
______ Tierney Ward
______ Smith Wingels
With varying opinions on who should be slotted in the remaining 3 spots, between Nieto, Karlsson, and Donskoi. I was sold on Donskoi after watching this

looks like this line had pretty good chemistry |

Yeah totally, we've got forward depth that's for sure, obviously Goldy & Meier are the top 6 talents but we've plenty of top 9/bottom 6 talents. That's the way to roll keep the system stocked with talent. We're getting there with blueliners of course with our main 3 we know who they are the top 4 talents. We'll see how Ryan does with the Cuda....we still got Demelo. And our college blueliners see how they keep developing Brodzinski's probably the best of that bunch. The jury's still out on our goalie prospects though with Bergvik & Robinson & Kupsky.
Just keep adding you can never have enough. |

The only thing making me hesitant with marleau on the top line is who is doing the dirty work? There is a reason why guys like getzlaf and perry play with a belesky or maroon. I would rather keep melker with pavs and jumbo and bring patty down to the third line.
Melker-Jumbo-Pavs
Hertl-Couture-Nieto
Marleau-Tierney-Ward
Goodrow/jevs/joonas/goldy?-Smith-Wingles
Each line has a guy who can go to the dirty areas and beat a defender to the puck in the corner battles. Melker is another guy like marleau who is either with jumbo or on the bottom 6 to me. |

Exactly and it allows for a blockbuster deal to happen with a team (Boston usually) that ships out a young superstar. |
