Disagree.
JVR at 4.25m is one of the best contracts in league.
Big young winger, not afraid to stand in front of net
30 goals easy

- mr.sir

He has consistently improved. I think maybe he has peaked though. I would give up Shinkaruk for him. Not McCann.

If Sbisa plays with Hamhuis he will become more defensively responsible. I think he will do well with more minutes. Everyone is to worried about Sbisa.
- thundachunk

But do we really want Sbisa to drag Hamhuis' value at TDL? If we are not looking like a playoff team by then I forsee Benning selling. Hammer would waive in final few months of contract i'm sure of it.

you realize that you guys are just 3 years behind us in the rebuild right now...

you will toil in mediocrity for a few years, until the rebuild is a necessity

(just like we did)

- mr.sir

Well aware and quite comfortable with it.
The 'freak outs' are the one's unable to come to grips with it and are all hiding under a table because of the pending collapse of the sky.

Where does Gardiner fit into that top 4?
- mr.sir

Canucks couldn't afford him - highly regarded in T.O.

To be honest the kid has great wheels and offensive instincts, you can't teach that, what you can teach him is defense. I'd give him some time under Babcock to grow as a player.

I don't think so with Hamhuis. Other teams know what a guy like Hammer brings to the table. Also his contract is a sweetie.

Didn't realize Luca was 25 already.
That would be our fault, (flyers), they should have sent him down for a few years, but he played well enough to stay, and he did.

- puckhead17

Sbisa's a bit of a nightmare in that his hockey IQ is non-existent. His toolbox is empty. Long term, considering where the Canucks are right now, I don't think his contract is going to hurt the team. Sucks but it won't really matter long term.

Didn't realize you guys are at $67m in the cap?
No wonder Bieksa had to leave.
I thought there was more room, I would have guessed about $62,$63m, before I looked.

Gillis and Benning combined haven't really managed the cap very well for us. Couple years down the line it looks ok though.

He probably still has marketability, especially because of his age.
He could always turn that around.

The problem is, his on-ice play will hurt the team a lot worse than the actual contract does

I think he has a decent hockey IQ but has a tendency to have mental lapses that are very costly. Nerves of steel he is not.

Yeah, just looking at the big $ first, Daniel, Henrik, & Miller make $20m combined.
It's not as bad as Kane, & Toews, but it adds up.
Edit. $10m for Vrbata, & Edler

$30m for 5 players. Thought the cushion was a little better after Kesler, but $ went to Vrbata.

His skating will only protect him so much. I believe my love of his skating ability overshadows a lot of his mistakes.

I wonder if Semin has had any bites or if he is headed back to Russia?
