I predict Kassian will start strong, his act will then wear thin with Therrien around December and he'll be a bag of poop again.

Thats the worse case scenario and still the Habs save almost a million bucks and gain a 5th rounder, hard to not like this move from Montreal's point of view

The value for the Canucks is getting him off the team, they wanted that so bad they paid Montreal a 5th round pick as insurance, because Bergevin probably doesn't have the utmost confidence they'll be able to change his ways either.

I like the kid, he's a fun spirit, he's got all the physical tools to be a good NHL'er, but he just doesn't have the IQ to pull it all together on a consistent basis. I wish him well.

As for the pick, Canucks can get a 4th or 5th rounder for Prust next year if they really really want that pick back.

Love the trade

Just keep him away from the night clubs.

He either has all the tools and needs a tool box OR he is just a tool.

Hopefully it works out best for both teams. With that being said that 5th rounder we gave you better not be "a diamond in the rough"

Prust will be missed. Heart and soul guy. We are curious to see what Kassian will bring to the table. I'm kinda worried about him liking the nightlife in Montreal a little too much...
- habman75

Hopefully Therrien can straighten him out - he has great potential upside. Good luck!

I agree. It will be interesting to see how much patience Therrien will have for Kassian. Its make or break for this kid

From a Canadiens perspective it's really not, you're right, they basically got him for nothing to try and turn it around for them. As I said, I hope it works out.

Vrbata, Hamhuis, Bartkowski, Weber and Prust all UFA next year.

I wonder who is shopped at deadline and for what. Assuming Canucks are sellers.

No worries, I've actually been trained to deal with troubled individuals. Tell me a bit about yourself. How did you interact with others in school? Did you have a happy childhood? Has anything tramatic ever happen to you? How about medication? Not everyone hates you! I like you, will you be my friend?

At least that 10th overall is playing meaningful minutes in the NHL. Many higher picks have not.

Edit: that's in response to the 'no cup' guy.

Not sure where the writer is going with this article. For starters, the goal is not to add depth / secondary scoring this season. Sure, seeing sven baertschi put up some points would be nice, but I would not anticipate a breakout season by any means. The Canucks do not have the depth to put him into a role where he will succeed offensively.

His best chance to succeed is on a line with Bonino and Vrbata. However, he will quickly move down the lineup and see his minutes cut due to lack of two way game. He will be exposed defensively as many players are in the West. And lets not forget that he was dealt by Calgary due to an attitude problem. I highly doubt that the players or coaching staff are going to deal with any nonsense from him. However, moving on.....

To state that Yannick Weber is an offensive D-man is quite startling. Albeit, he did put up 21 points in only 60 games. However, he played significant time on the PP with the Sedins. He is a mediocre D-man with a rocket of a shot. His skating, play making ability and vision are all average at best. All areas which are trademarks of an offensive D-man.

Questioning the teams' competitiveness this year is arbitrary to the big picture here. Years of disastrous drafting has put us in a position we do not want to be in.

http://canucks.nhl.com/cl...und=All&team=VAN&year=All

If you take a look at this website I posted, you will see just how bad the Canucks drafting has been. The years from 07-12 were an absolute disaster.

2007: Canucks draft Partick White 25th overall
2008: Cody Hodhson 10th overall
2009: Jordan Scroeder 22nd overall
2010: Canucks draft Patrick Mcnally 25th overall
2011: Nicklas Jensen 29th overall
2012: Brendan Gaunce 26th overall.

The reason I show this, is to emphasize the need for a proper rebuild. I am a strong believer that teams' will only succeed long term if they can draft and develop properly. Example: Detroit Red Wings.

The next three years will be horrendous for Canuck fans who are used to great regular season performances, accompanied by the hope of their first Stanley cup. However, the next three years will be utilized for developing youth while we ride out the Sedin's three remaining seasons with the squad.

That was the scouting report on him. But overtime he wasn't able to fill that role on the canucks. Players evolve over time. Some improve. Some don't.

As you become more familiar with hockey this will become more obvious.

Meaningful minutes might not be the correct word for Cody Hodgson. He was horrible in Buffalo and was detrimental to the success of his team. I understand that he is young, and the Sabres were not going to succeed regardless. However, he dug his own grave. He was doing just find in Van city, but decided that he deserved more minutes despite being young and unproven in the NHL. He has been playing AHL level hockey at best for the past two seasons.

On your post above, McNally was actually drafted in the 4th round. But I agree, their drafting has been terrible for years.

That's why i can't understand how Delorme still has a job? Makes zero sense and contradicts TL's statement on a "thorough evaluation of the organization"
