I'll dance for Stemp... I was pretty annoyed we couldn't keep him last year. Him and Arcobello are those players who get Richard for contracts and money, and perform immensely higher then the perceived "bottom 6, 4th liner" view many have on them. - Guile
I meant more on the trading of Scuds and Sutter. |

to save cap, and get rid of two dweebs. With the possibility of gaining a competent 3rdC |

Because Rinaldo got a 3rd round pick... people are stupid, GMs are people, therefore, GMs are stupid. |

JR was patient last year and got a good deal on Comeau... he will bring in someone at value eventually... Sutter is the big question... clearly there not moving SCuderi or Kuni because they have less value in trade then they do for the team... I don't and have never understood the hate toward Scuderi... he stepped up playing big minutes in the playoffs last year... so long as he's used as a 6-7 d man I have zero issue... Its the lesser of two evils (blame Shero if you have an issue with it) Franson at 5-6 million per year is not and should not be an option...

and what competent third center is out there for the taking. Don't say Marcel Goc either.
People seriously have to get in their skulls Scuds ain't moving. |

Nor should he... he's not a bad player... he's a 6-7 dman that's overpayed and who's value as a veteran d man is understated... |

He's only an option at 3 plus million per if Sutter or Scuds is moved... (does not look like either is happening) I would expect Boyes or Santorelli type players at a reduced rate |

Yes, Fehr for Sutter as a replacement does not save us much if any cap space... this year. Sutter is apparently going to command a raise after this season, why, I don't know. Fehr however, can be signed to a few years, or hell, to four or five... point is, you can lock Fehr at about 3 mil for a few years, while Sutter is only 3.3 for one more year.
Management really should be looking at a move like this, for the future with out young D and Perron needing new deals soon. |

Fehr > Sutter... Problem is the term that Fehr is asking.... 4-5 years is to much...Plus Sutter has zero trade value.. Pens will try to lock Maatta up this summer (4years 16 million?)... Dumo will get a Despres like deal... 2-3 years... I see Perron having a monster year and pulling a Belesky... If that happens ... later!!!
Kunitz and Duper will be fine if healthy....
Pouliot cannot be extended till next summer... if they need to buyout someone at that point so be it... |

I'm. Probably in the minoriity around here, but I wouldn't mind Kuni coming back. Just wish Sutter would get dealt. A third line with Kuni, Duper could be pretty nice. |

Fehr is 29... 4-5 years isn't outrageous... you end with him at 34, which for the most part, is fine... players begin to slow down between 33 and 35 on average, and you have him locked through the rest of his prime.
Sutter's trade value is roughly a 3rd rounder according to the draft reports? I still find this hard to believe after some of the trades the last few days... but still, how about just Sutter for a solid prospect? |

No issue with them this year... but next year, we are going to be wanting that cap space for at least Kunitz... Maatta and Perron are up, and I'd like to keep both. |

Management doesn't seem to care about future with the way this organization has been running. It's actions the last five years suggest this. The David Perron I saw, absent the first 2.5 weeks as a Pen sucked ass and doesn't deserve an extension based on the play we saw. |

The hatred for scuderi comes from the fact that he's a 3rd pairing player who is way overpaid and taking a spot from a younger guy like dumoulin. If scuderi made 1.5 mil I'd be ok with him as the 7th dman who comes in for injuries |

ill admit he was underwhelming after the start.
if it was because he got comfortable and complacent, then (frank) him.
but im willing to give him a clean start for this year. hopefully he can get it going with malkin |

The Pens got the biggest name and best goal scorer on the market + Plotnikov who has some potential...yet I still feel like there is work to be done with the roster. I'd like to see some more moves next week. Some decent remaining Free Agents and plenty of dead weight on the roster to get rid of...
my expertise NHL 15 GM-ing is messing with my reality. |
