Where does RW get the charts for corsi pairings btw? Interested to see who Perron looked better with advanced stat wise... - Guile
Probably from Puckalytics (Super WOWY) + manual table/excel chart....
http://www.puckalytics.com/superwowy.html
5V5:
Malkin + Perron (53:21 TOI) w/ CF% of 61.4
Crosby + Perron (444:52 TOI) w/ CF% of 58.8

I think the return for Kessel and saad were close, so would you rather have saad at that price or Kessel for his? |

The Phil. Whoever says otherwise is delusional in my opinion and just hates the straw man that the Toronto media has built up. Do I think Saad is a 30 goal scorer? Probably, but I think he's kinda fringe. I see him more as high 20's. Kessel is sure fire high 30's and likely 40's. YTB. Plus, I think Saad's physicality and two way game are overrated. Lets see how he does playing away from two of the best two way forwards in the game. |

I will take the guy who has scored 30+ playing with an average center |

Jaekal made a good comment on the BJs board about how saad had guys like Keith and seabrook feeding him the puck from the backend. Won't get that in columbus |

Not really. We know what we are getting with Kessel, but Saad is still growing and evolving his game. He has what it takes to be a 30 30 true power forward that is as physically dominant as he is skilled. He could end up being better, but...
We got an elite sniper in his prime to match with out superstars in their prime. Our window for the next five years is wide open. |

That is a better deal for Columbus than what Buffalo gave ROR. 7.5 per year for seven years? Never has had 30 goals, never has had a season over 65 points. I get he is one of the best two-way forwards in the game, but ... to think there were people who wanted that here is mind boggling. |

He also played with one of the top centers in the NHL... lets see how he fares going down a bit on the skill peg for Centers before giving him the virtual blowjobs. |

Near exact quoting them for RoR... no wonder you're so stubborn here... you live off of their site's garbage. |

The Ryan Oreilly deal is ridiculous 7.5 million!?
I will take Kessel at 6.8 over Saad 6.0 or ROR 7.5! any day of the week or year.

Where is our friend from Tampa Bay now? A week age people were saying Kessel was overpaid, he!!, in another week he's going to be a bargain. |

I agree that deal for Buffalo is bad, when ROR becomes their 3rd line guy, its going to be really bad. The think with Saad, is he has played with high end players. Not that CBus doesn't have good players, but they are nowhere near Chicago. What would you consider a failed year for Saad at 6 mil? Under 30 goals and 50 points total? |

Here is the thing ... Saad is going to be at 4 million this year. That is a bargain. Columbus is amassing a nice collection of forwards. No, not a Kane or Toews amongst them, but I see Saad being s 30-33 goal scorer, 70-point guy down the road. Guess what ... he could be still putting up more points than ROR.
Who has more points and goals this year and which is a better value ... Saad at 4 million in Cbus or ROR at 7.5 in Buffalo?
Saad to me isn't the guy that will put eye popping numbers out. His contract doesn't suggest that right now, whereas ROR's contract ... you better be getting 80-85 points on that. I don't see it happening. |

I cant imagine a better line than Hornqvist Crosby Kessel. The styles all mesh too perfect for that not to be our #1 line.
The attack through the neutral zone will come at speed like it always does with Sid, except now the defenders have to respect that the other player on the attack the ThePhil, I think the game plan against Sid has always been both defenders to Sid and let the goalie deal with the shot from his winger. This worked because the shot was coming from Kunitz, and nothing against Kunitz but ThePhil has one of the best shots in the league. It means this strategy is no longer valid because Crosby will hit ThePhil with the pass, and it will be right on the tape.
The shot on the rush will come from either Sid or Kessel with Hornqvist trailing the play with the intention of being the first man on the loose puck no matter where it goes.
Behind the opponents net there is no better combo in the legue than Crosby and Hornqvist, some of my fondest memories from last year were watching those two go to work against the defenders and more times than not they won the puck to the player in the slot. That player will now be ThePhil.
I dont know if Malkin will be okay with Sid getting both the top wingers. Perron is a better fit for Malkin, he plays that east west game the same as Geno and honestly I dont think Perron can keep up with the tempo that Sid plays at.

I agree that ROR needs to be amazing to justify that contract. I think Buffalo had to overpay to get him to stay there to be honest. I would take Saad over ROR any day of the week with those contracts.
Obviously with Saad, you are paying for the future....I am just not sure he turns into a 70 point guy and if he doesnt, i think that 6 mil is too much. I just think he is going to struggle a bit without the dynamic duo he played with.

I see your point and somewhat agree. I think as he grows, he is capable of 30 goals without the dynamic forwards. I guess we shall see. If he doesn't, sure, its too much. However, I think we agree that contract is better than ROR's. |

I am a huge fan of Stempniak. If we pick him up, and Semin. That would put us around 1.5m cap space for the season.
Kessel - sid - Horn
Semin - Malkin - Plotnikov
Dupuis - Sutter - Kunitz
Bennet - Sundq -Stempniak
Maatta - Tanger
Pouliot - Cole
Lovejoy - domoulin
For the love of god, get rid of scuderi. Sutter+scuederi and one of our 3rd's for a decent 3C. That would be the bees knees. |

the ROR contract is def bad, the Saad is much better. You pay difference makers that type of money, and i don't think ROR is that. I don't think he can carry a line himself. |

I'll dance for Stemp... I was pretty annoyed we couldn't keep him last year. Him and Arcobello are those players who get Richard for contracts and money, and perform immensely higher then the perceived "bottom 6, 4th liner" view many have on them. |
