put Kunitz with Croisby and Kessel
I know this may sound far fetched (stupid even), but I wouldnt be super shocked if Kessel scored 60 this year with Crosby at centre.....

I can only hope that that's true, but that's just astronomical in today's NHL. I seriously believe Ovechkin is the only player that has close to 60 goal potential anymore. Maybe a 25 or 24 year old Phil could have done it with a 25 year old Crosby, but I'm not sure those two can make it happen at this point. That being said, they're each going to break 100 easy I think. |

I don't think St Louis makes that trade because they dumped Oshie to make cap space. - drummer829
I honestly don't care about Rattie. I don't really like him. Was just getting Kunitz off the books. That's all you really need to take away from that move. |

Question for Pens fans,
If Phil doesn't score 30-35, will this be a disappointment? Remember, he had all the minutes and the puck in TO. He won't in Pitt. |

He will still play on the top line... probably top pp. might have puck slightly less... but feeds from crosby and/or malkin over kessel and or kadri. only thing stopiping kessel is injury. |

I'd be way more worried about our defensive depth then our forward depth. Our third line might have 2 guys that were our 2nd and 3rd best wings coming into last season. Even if we sign nobody else, I like Wilson-Sundqvist-Bennett better then Sill-Goc-Adams. IMO, our season hinges on the health of our top pair and the maturation of Pouliot. |

I've said it before... I think in another year or 2... McNeill could be another Orpik.... big strong net clearer with even more size than Brooks had. |

I have a feeling the Pens circle back to Ehrhoff for about 3.5. They need the top 4 so Pouliot can continue to develop. Ehrhoff still has something to prove after the injuries last year. He would be my biggest target of need right now.
To me, the other wild card is Semin. I was just looking at his career in totallity. The guy is a top 10 talent in the league. His underlying numbers are still very good. If he's willing to make the switch to left wing and accept a 2 year deal at around 3 I'd sign him. That fixes depth by sliding others down. And, since we can go over the cap by 10%, find the best bargain at 3c at around 1.5 mil and sign them. You can then worry about dumping Sutter and most likely Kunitz for picks.
I believe we would still have room for a winger like Stempniak at this point.
Perron, Crosby, Kessel
Semin, Malkin, Hornqvuist
Plotnikov, Santorelli?, Dupuis
Bennett, Sundqvist/Goc? Stempniak
Maata, Letang
Ehrhoff, Cole
Dumoulin, Pouliot

Forget Semin, sign Matthias or Fehr instead of Stempniak. Push Santorelli to 4C and move Sundqvist to 4LW and Bennett to 4RW and we're in business |

So what in sam hill happened over these past 3 days, are we possibly getting semin still? We have the cap space, any possible trades with sutter yet? I still can't believe we got Kessel at what we gave up for him. |

Starkey with a neat stat on radio. The Chicago Blackhawks... since 2010... with there top guys (Toews, Kane, Keith, Seabrook, Sharp, Hossa) have lost how many man games to injury in the playoffs COMBINED....
well
10. 10 man/games to injury combined.
Anyone who thinks the pens with some similar luck cant compete for the cup is out of der mines! |

I'd trade Sutter for Semin if they took 3 mil a year off |

No Lovejoy? Not that I have a problem with that. Maybe ANA will want him back and send us a young up-and-coming D'man in return?
Don't really want or need Ehrhoff around, softer than a bag of marshmallows.
If we absolutely MUST sign a defenseman because we're so terrified that Pouliot and Dumoulin might make an occasional mistake or two (oh the horror) as they develop, let it be somebody with some size and toughness since we currently have a total of 0 defenders on the roster who have that combination of assets.
