sounds like a good strategy for one pennsylvanian team.... whens claude and vorechek getting moved for retooling? - ChrisMS
We are retooling. Through the draft. We have to remove crap contracts as well. We are a good two to three years from being a threat. We just have one line that is consistant. Even that is questionable at times because of the left wing |

interesting piece, had no idea the #'s. heard many people say that those two didn't mesh but if you got a bigger sample size with Malkin the #'s might be a little closer to each other but I doesn't really matter who plays with Kessel, do you think he cares ? I doubt it. |

I don't think we will see the top heavy penguins have any problems with their bottom 6 until/if a major player goes down. The penguins are going to score goals, its inevitable. But if Malkin, Crosby or Fluery go down hurt for a signifigantly long period of time, then they may be in some serious trouble. - nurk
that's the same with any team , injuries can kill any teams season. We are no stranger to health problems |

I think the argument is that the Pens should have outbid the Blues for Oshie. I personally think the package given up was pretty pathetic. - jfkst1
And a trade with a prospect and a pick would make an already barren prospect pool even more barren. |

I think it fleury goes down for a significant period of time it would be worse for them compared to other teams. The rangers lost Lundqvuist for awhile, the blackhawks lost crawford for awhile but the way their defense is structured they didnt miss a beat and the backup stepped right in and the team didnt sputter. |

I'd go
duper-sid-kessel--- they'd be a blur
plotn-malkin-horny- if plotni has chem with malkin it is a huge win for pens...
perron-sutter-kunitz- Love the depth
maybe farnham if he isnt dumb- sund if he is ready- rust/wilson
or
sign cheap desjardins, cullen, mitchell, berg, kopecky, bernier, dwyer, nash, skille, moss, upshall... get one or two for a million a piece prove you still got it contracts. good depth. |

They are doing the same thing the flyers have done for years now. Cashing out the future for a chance to win now |

far less barren than people think.... a decent amount of pens prospects are college players and they tend to get overlooked. |

Are you Oneonta's alt? Just asking as there are some similarities in your comments.
Your right about the above though.
Some here might even start trading Sprong. |

Am I the only one thinking Perro - Crosby - Kessel might not be the best combination? I feel like Crosby really needs that player that's going to go hard in the corners and behind the net to win puck battles and I am not sure Perron does that very well and it seems that Kessel doesn't either (and I'd rather have him stay in front of the net ready to take a shot anyways). That's where/how Horny was really effective with Sid IMO. Maybe Kunitz (if back to his previous self) or Dupuis would provide that for that line. Or maybe Plotnikov but I wouldn't thrust him into top line minutes right away. That would put Perron with Malkin and would probably be the trigger man as Malkin will be the main focus by the other team's defenders. |

GMJR has already said they are looking at adding a 4th line center. I think everything else will shake itself out. |

They gave up a 3rd (pens have three of those in 2016) and a low level prospect. Suckturd, two thirds, and another throw in prospect if need be would have been a dream trade. Suckturd is also a rental this year so unloading him would be ideal. |

Labarbara is the Flyers 3rd string goalie. I'm not sure what you are trying to accomplish with this jab but I think it was a major fail. |

bennett would look great on the top line in wbs... why oh why cant we send him down. treat him like they did despres and actually give him a chance to develop in the right atmosphere. |

Troy Brouwer is a solid player with a ton of grit. I don't think Kunitz or Sutter straight up is a better package then Brouwer and future pick and a prospect. IMHO, I think the caps package is better then Kunitz or Sutter. - nurk
Rumor has it at draft time, Kap or Harrington, plus a roster player and a pick was offered for Oshie and the Blues turned it down. I found it funny that, at the draft Kap was not part of the package for PK, so I would assume Kap was part of the package for Oshie. There are a couple writers who reported that the Pens were shocked at what the Blues got, after turning down what the Pens offered. They felt they offered the better package of players/picks. SO who knows, honestly. |

This is true. But when you have the generational level talent that the Pens do, there really is no way to justify doing a rebuild while wasting the prime years of 87 and 71. |

it was a bit round about... you talked about our barren farm system and then i compared the fact your farm depth in goal was a washed out dude and our third stringer was a blue chip prospect. duh. |

And how do you know that St Louis didn't value Brouwer 10 times more than Sutter?
Have you ever seen the prospect that the Caps traded play? And you probably don't know how much St louis valued him as well. |
