The hatred for scuderi comes from the fact that he's a 3rd pairing player who is way overpaid and taking a spot from a younger guy like dumoulin. If scuderi made 1.5 mil I'd be ok with him as the 7th dman who comes in for injuries
- drummer829

No one disputes that he's overpayed... Here are your choices Franson 6 years 36 million...the ridiculous contract Sekera received or Scuds at 3.3 million????... these guys are better then Scuds... are they 3 plus million per season better???? NO WAY!!! They re not entering the season with 2 rookie d men, 2nd year Maatta(last year is a wash),Cole, an injury question mark in Letang and Lovejoy as the d.... I agree let the kids play... but their kids... Pouliot and Dumo WILL HAVE growing pains!!!

Nice job on the kassian trade. Your team is definitely poised to get stomped on by EDM and CGY.

I'm. Probably in the minoriity around here, but I wouldn't mind Kuni coming back. Just wish Sutter would get dealt. A third line with Kuni, Duper could be pretty nice.
- madmike71

This roster is pretty close to the roster with Neal. Just older and with a worse d.

Glencross, Bergenheim, Stempniak, Boyes, Matthias. We have good options at the wing. If we could only trade Sutter's and Scuds' contracts..

Unbelievable we don't have Spaling on the roster anymore... And on a package for Phil Kessel! lol

I don't want any of those free agents. Pouliot and dumoulin may have growing pains, but they will only improve where as scuderi is only getting worse. scuderi's contract is also keeping the team from signing some quality depth players as well.

Do you think maybe a couple of those free agents out there could be waiting on the Penguins status regarding bad contracts and cap space?

I was Under the impression Santorelli could be One of those guys. Perhaps Fehr as well.

They need a quality depth veteran d man ... Who do you propose instead of scuds? And where is scuds going? ( don't say buyout because it's not happening) and what will that cost? Not only are they stuck with scuds ...they need him

The problem is there is no point in going for it this year. Like the the flyers, the pens are not a cup contender as the rosters sit right now. Neither team is getting through tampa, rangers, Washington, and im sure Im forgetting a few teams in the east that have gotten better. Heck, Id watch out for the panthers this year as well as islanders. The pens have the two best players in the league but they cant win it themselves, otherwise you would have had many more cups already.
- jmdodgeser4

Are you retarded or what? The Pens are light years ahead of the Flyers contention wise. It's not even close. If the Pens stay relatively healthy and the young defense develops like it should this team will be really tough to beat. The Ducks defense is the perfect comparison. They are young and super skilled and they dominated in the playoffs. Our d is about a year behind them development wise. The Flyers D is the worst in the league and your bottom 6 is garbage. Just a total penguins hatred comment because all you flyers fans are jealous

It is a young man's game, they need to be played and evaluated at this level. We have a couple young unproven players in the minors yet and also a pair of former NHLers. I don't understand the panic. Contrary to popular belief it is impossible to have ten Larry Robinson's in your organization.

I agree we are stuck with Scuderi, I disagree we need him. His cap hit is worse than his actual salary, let him sit in the press box.

The Pens got the biggest name and best goal scorer on the market + Plotnikov who has some potential...yet I still feel like there is work to be done with the roster. I'd like to see some more moves next week. Some decent remaining Free Agents and plenty of dead weight on the roster to get rid of...

my expertise NHL 15 GM-ing is messing with my reality.

and what competent third center is out there for the taking. Don't say Marcel Goc either.

People seriously have to get in their skulls Scuds ain't moving.

- Oneonta Penguin

Why isn't he moving? Because you say so?

In an off season that saw Pronger get traded, I wouldn't say Scuds has no chance.

I think we would all like to see Kunitz return to form. I don't think he should be traded at all. I think he will slot in well anywhere from 1-3 this year.

Management doesn't seem to care about future with the way this organization has been running. It's actions the last five years suggest this. The David Perron I saw, absent the first 2.5 weeks as a Pen sucked ass and doesn't deserve an extension based on the play we saw.

So miserable and pessimistic towards anything that isn't your idea.
- Guile

+1

Dude is the king of slamming other peoples ideas, and calling them stupid. But then if you ask him to pony up and provide some of his own suggestions he will refer to the fact that he already made a post about it sometime in the last year and you can go find it. Can never put his ideas out there for others to criticize.

ill admit he was underwhelming after the start.

if it was because he got comfortable and complacent, then (frank) him.

but im willing to give him a clean start for this year. hopefully he can get it going with malkin

- stayinthefnnet

I agree. This year he will have the benefit of being able to have a training camp and preseason with HEALTHY linemates. That could go a long way towards his ability to gel with the other guys on his line and with Kessel out there with him and Crosby it should afford him more space to make plays.

Assuming he stays on that top line of course. Even if he doesn't, with Geno and Horny on line 2, he will still have more time and space.

Im excited for October!!
