We have been trying to find that Russian diamond in the rough, ever since Pavel.

Fedorov, nope.

Chubarov, nope.

Shirokov, nope.

Is Dmitry Zhukenov gonna make it in this league?

Or Traymkin for that matter?

#Canucks president Trevor Linden says it was his call to relieve executives Laurence Gilman, Lorne Henning & Eric Crawford go.

I just listened to Linden's interview, he owned this, said the group was too big, which made decisions cumbersome at times. Hinted, without saying as much, that it was in part due to amalgamating two management groups.

How the (frank) does Delorme still have a job - Jesus

- LeftCoaster

Call me crazy, but I'm guessing the Crawford/Henning/Gilman group was more methodical with their opinions and Linden/Benning/Weisbrod/Delorme are more from the good old boys club and not analytical thinking at all.

I am okay with delorme still being here, as weird as that is. The last few drafts, he has been a part of, we have done quite well ** it seems. Esp this past draft - didn't really seem like he was a huge impact to it - if that stays the same, then what is the worry?

Love it !!!! Keep cutting and burning the cancer out of this team ! Embrace the rebuild, this team can lose every game and I'll support them if they keep rebuilding !

Both were actually quite good but, Chubarov jumped ship and Shirokov felt that management didn't have confidence in him so he left.
- SRam19

And of course Koltsov, who after leaving the Moose, has become one of the highest scoring D in the KHL (14/15 - 60 games, 18 goals, 30 assists - more than all the canucks D put together last year!)

Delorme had little to no say during Gillis' last draft here since he was unoffically demoted, a couple of new scouts were brought in, and Crawford who seems to be a solid scout was promoted and ran the Horvat/Shink/Cassels draft.

So we fired our capologist and one of our best scouts? So Delorme is our head scout again.

- Nucker101

The only problem I have with this is Delorme is still there. The others are the old regime's personal guys. Divided front office. You may think Gilman was the cap master but so what. I hold him personally responsible for Luongo signing and at least half of the NTC's. I am actually more surprised with the fact it took this long to can them. It doesn't end here either. They keep saying they are done but from the way things are going it looks like more moves are on the way. Front office and players.

I love that they're going to tank, but its an unintentional tank which means the team isn't exactly run by the best in the business.

Benning is better suited to be a head scout, assistant GM. Linden just fired one of our competent scouts and kept one of our worst. These guys think Sbisa is worth 3.6M. I'm guessing the guys fired didn't see eye-to-eye with some of the recent decisions made so now they're gone.

I'm afraid.

But if he is essentially neutered so to speak, there is little harm? My only reasoning. Guess since we are gutting everything old - might as well let him walk as well? Really curious to see where this team goes from here.

We'll see how this plays out. But as of now I think Benning is kind of a mad man running our team, the only area I trust him in is with scouting outside of that this whole front office looks shaky as hell.

They better hire a new cap guy and their OHL scouting just took a hit with the loss of Crawford.

The unintentional tank is on. We made fun of the Oilers old boy's club, but our management is shaping up to look the same way.

The warning signs are there, I've been trying to look past them but every time I convince myself that this management group will be solid hey do something that scares me again.

Cody's going to be a future captain and a clutch scorer. Feels good being a Sabres fan.

I'm not, Benning will get this season and next to be able to clean out the old core/management group and put his own people in place. He's a transitional GM, put in place to transition the team from 2011 to something new. He'll be replaced once the Sedins retire in order to make a push for a Cup. He's good enough that he'll leave the incoming GM with enough assets to enhance or else go full rebuild.

Sounds like Canucks Jonathan Wall, director hockey ops & analytics, gets a big promotion, to fill in the work of Laurence Gilman. Very smart man!!

All I'm saying is that I always some rationale behind each move Gillis made outside of the Roy trade. Benning meanwhile seems to make moves that are just bizarre: firing Crawford, Sbisa contract, Miller contract, Kassian deal, Dorsett contract, asking for Sbisa instead of a better asset in the Kesler deal, the Vey deal. Some of the moves have worked out like Baertschi and Vrbata but so far I've seen more warning signs than positive.

yup, it will be interesting to see if they do hire and who they bring in. I think they want to tank as well but are trying to balance the tank with season ticket sales. Cant outright come out and say we going to suck. We will see.
