It's never to late to fire up NHL 15. I'd like to hold onto both Schenns. My wish list starts with trading Amac and this guy finding Vinny...

If he's getting 7M per, the length of the deal is not going to lower the AAV. Whether it's 7M per for 5 years or 7M per over 8 years, the AAV is still 7M.
- MJL

Obviously lol ...

The point was if he signs a 4-5 year deal (8M) VS 7-8 year term (7M), the cap hit (aav) will be lower the longer the term.

Ducks have a couple rfas, but it's amazing they're under the floor with one of the best rosters in the league

Voracek isn't Corey Perry
- mochoson

No, he's not, but he's 4 years younger & coming off first team all star.
Can't see him getting under $8m a year, I just hope they don't try to lowball him.

Kane set the market. $10M per year for the best RW in hockey. Gotta think Voracek sees himself at $8M

I didn't get what you were saying and still don't, so forgive me. In the premise you give, the length of the deal doesn't lower the cap hit. What lowers the cap hit is the lower cap hit. 8 versus 7. In the premise you give, the length of term doesn't have anything to do with lowering the cap hit.

If the 8M deal was over 7-8 or 4-5 years the cap hit would still be 8M. If the 7M deal was over 4-5 years, versus a 7-8 year term, the AAV is the same, which is 7M

They still have to re-sign Hagelin and Silfverberg, but they have defenseman on low money deals and they don't have a lot of money spent on goaltending either.

Hopefully some day in the not too too distant future we can have 3 players like Vatanen, Lindholm, and Despres contributing on ELCs. I bet that helps a lot.

True, I see $8m a year for him as well.
Maybe other stars are noticing that its tough to keep other important players, with Kane, & Toews making $10.5m.
They take $2m less each, & it helps keep the core together.
Edit they're lucky Keith is on that extended 15 year contract, (or whatever it is), lowing his cap hit, and then they have to pay Seabrook next year.

8M seems like the number to me also, or at least in the ball park.

Around what Giroux makes, or Getzlaf, Perry.

I could see it coming in a little lower than Giroux, because Voracek really only has had one elite scoring season to this point.

7.8 is where I hope they can get him. Something like 6 years, 47 million.

If Jake can be a steady 70 point player while continuing to dominate possession, I'm perfectly fine with $8M.

I'd probably get a little nervous with anything more than that.

Is Nick Cousins still waiver exempt next year? Or do we loose him for nothing if he doesn't make the team?

Frank is just as lazy and jumps to just as many premature conclusions with TSN as he did with The Daily News.
- Doc_Sarcasm

Never a Frank fan. I remember when he put out that ridiculous Stamkos to Flyers rumor a few years back. It was so apparent that he was just hoping to put something out there and it would stick so he could say he initially reported it. Never did I think the Flyers were getting Stamkos. Enjoy Toronto Frank, you aren't missed here
