so a guy that could be in the hunt for a defensive player of the year for the next 10 years is not a valuable piece to build around?

Assuming you're talking about Embiid, Noel, and Okafor? One of them is going to have to be traded eventually in my opinion.

So I'm seeing a few people put L Schenn has the 7th dman and Gudas in on the 3rd pair. I haven't seen much of Gudas, but do people really think he's better than Schenn?

Tampa played him on their top 4 I believe. I think he's better than what most people give him credit for.

I haven't seen much of him play, but if they wanna get the best out of those two player (assuming they're both still on the team come the start of the season), swap them in and out each game for the first month or two, whoever has a better showing gets the spot from there on out.

I have serious doubts, but I'm trying to keep an open mind, and see how Gudas plays. Even if he's not as good, I don't see it being a huge dropoff, and the cap angle has to be considered.

He is going to have tough competition for DPOY with guys like Leonard, Jordan, Draymond Green, LeBron, Anthony Davis.

In his first extended look at the nhl (13-14: 73gp) he had 22 points which isn't all that bad for a defensive dman. He was a plus player too. The prior year he only played 22 games.

Any offense you get from Gudas is a bonus. His offensive play isn't going to earn him a full time spot.

Yes, tis a concern

My only big worry with the Sixers, which I cannot prove/disprove, is that Hinkie will get so locked into the "need to acquire more picks" mentality and will never be able to build a team because he'll keep trading players for more picks.

I think that part of the rebuild is mostly over. Love the deal they made last. They actually have an NBA roster this season.

nerlens average 9.9 points as a rookie. with really no help down low

as he matures and gets stronger and has a guy like Okafor commanding double teams, i see that number increasing

say he tops out at like 15 ppg....add that to his game changing defense and that's a hell of a roster piece

My thing is when do they start winning.

If Embid is out another year that just pushes it back more. Also for all the talk about the picks he keeps acquiring, which ones have become anything. MCW was traded for a Lakers 1st rounder that isn't going to be anything special. It was lottery protected and next season they will be better and pick will fall out of top 10 probably.

Lakers whiffing so far in FA. If they miss on picking up a center I think they'll be terrible in a tough western conference. MCW wasn't a top 10 pick in a pretty week draft so I won't miss him.
