Uhh Jimmy Hayes for Reilly Smith, lol?

Florida also takes on Savard. Minus Hamilton situation, Sweeney not doing a bad job at all actually.

Turns out trading Savard and Pronger's contracts wasn't cap circumvention that would be shut down by the league.

Kind of like the Tim Thomas trade.

You don't have a problem with those expensive contracts Homer handed out like candy?

Just because the Vinny situation can be figured out at some point doesn't mean that Holmgren didn't leave Hextall that problem.

- FlyerGuy

The only contract that I have a problem with on the team is Lecavalier, because he's no longer a fit. No GM is going to have every move work out. Hextall will have his share of bad moves also at some point.

I hated what they did in the first round of the draft. We'll see how that turns out, but the consensus seems to be that two of the guys they took between 13 and 15 would've been there when they drafted again in the 2nd round. In doing so, they passed on Connor and Barzal. Its going to take some time to make a final judgement on that, but at first blush it looks ugly.

agreed ... though you are little more kind to Homer than I am.

I certainly think that Homer was a good GM early on, but as the years went by his signings and trades took away a lot of that initial sparkle, imo.

I would sign Williams and try to move BSchenn for a LW prospect.

It's better than continuing to try and force Schenn to work on the wing.

Can someone remember what was the COOTS line at the end of last season ? I recall both Coots and Schenner clicking very well and going on a point streak.

Was it with both Read and Schenn on the off-wing ?

Not to mention Hextall saying "it's difficult to make moves given our current cap situation" about a dozen times. Might as well say thanks for nothing Homer.

Yeah, that was the line. It was Simmonds originally, but then he broke his leg.
