Yup, man needs to retire.

Wish he could convince his old teammate Vinny to do the same.

- BiggE

I'll agree Vinny should retire. At least St. Louis still has some offense

He faded badly in the playoffs, which is when I got to see him play the most games.

Yet he somehow put up 21 goals and 31 assists?
- Streit2ThePoint

Playing on the President's Trophy team on a line with one of the NHL's leading goal scorers...yes, he did.

I agree, it does, but I wouldn't take the chance. Maybe on a 1 year deal, even so, I would rather keep Read. Really two different kinds of players in 2 different roles.

He's far from a dime a dozen player. He's a speedy 2-way forward who (aside from last season) is a consistent 20-goal scorer and top-notch PKer.
- jmatchett383

In UFA he would be costing about what he gets or more, I think, so I am in agreement with you. Unless you have a guy on an ELC who is providing all that
the cost is about right. Plus he gets a pass for playing with a bad ankle. Lets see him bounce back this year!

Why am I labelled a troll? I didn't try to argue with anyone, nor have I tried to enflame the boards.

You guys aren't really accepting of new people are you?

- MikesPillBottle

1. Screen name "joke"
2. "Jokes" like your one about McDavid

These things don't work in your favor.

It's like showing up for a white-collar job interview wearing board shorts and Vans. You might be qualified but your appearance says otherwise.

Good luck finding a winger that can effectively check top lines, play in situations that are prohibitive to scoring, while putting up 2nd line level scoring totals at ES, at his cap hit.

Matt Read's injury and subsequent ineffectiveness, was one of the biggest reasons why the Flyers missed the playoff last year. He is a very important player to this team.

He really is one of those guys who is totally unappreciated strictly because of how consistent his game is. He isnt streaky, he isnt flashy, he isnt a physical brute nor a slouch in the physical game. He is pretty much above average in pretty much every aspect. Plays all situations, can play any forward spot and any role. Losing him would be brutal.

Kinda crazy, but how would people feel about trying to lure Julian Talbot over here? Dude's put up good numbers in DEL and has North American experience.

The McDavid 'joke' was definitely 'off'.

He's a (very) poor man's Rod Brind'Amour. A VERY poor man's.

Out of curiosity what do you see as his contributions?
- VladDrag

Middle 6 offensive player (30-45) points and a good penalty killer. He's a solid player who we should keep unless someone comes with a respectable offer, but he's a very average player.

Is he really fat on the bone? I think he's a great value for what he did prior to last year. He may be a piece to move when the time is right, but I don't think in any way shape or form, does he belong grouped together with the other three he mentioned.
- funmaster18

I think he'll bounce back and be perfectly fine. He had unbelievable bad luck.

Provorov, Morin, Sanheim and Ghost are all better prospects than him.

So this is a good deal for Philly?
I have no idea who any of the players in this deal are, I stopped closely following the Sixers when they traded Moses Malone.

- BiggE

They basically got 4 first round picks for allowing a team to move its unwanted trash for two years.

He's a very important player right now, but he's very expendable in the right scenario. That's all I'm getting at.

I'm looking for a Kerby Rychel trade today that features Luke Schenn and a prospect or pick. Universe? Please provide.

Edit: With Dano just traded it is unlikely CLB is still looking to use him as a trade chip. .

I woke up this morning and had to read 3 different articles to fully understand what actually happened. My goodness those guys in Sacramento are clueless.
- Tomfan365

Hinkie is so good at finding the weakest one at the table. He did it to Minnesota last year and got the Kings this year.

Hexy should wake up every morning and call Don Sweeney just to see how he's feeling.

I'm mad Griffen Reinhart was moved and we didn't get in on that.

I think he can still contribute. He's just not the right fit for the Flyers and the Flyers aren't the right fit for him.
