I'd rather have Martin St. Louis for 1 yr at $4mil than Matt Read.
- Streit2ThePoint

Wow. Did you watch MSL at all last year?

I like Hagg! I just have him rated 5th. I also like Alt, he's 6th.
- Feanor

Right, didn't mean to imply otherwise. Although I do think you made him cry by placing him 5th on Feanor's Defensive Prospects List. But he'll get over it. Probably.

I'm looking forward to Hagg's development in his 2nd year as a NA pro. And a new coach. I hope he's more comfortable and focused and takes a big step forward.

Penalty killing, playing on a shutdown line, contributing an appropriate amount of offense for his role.
- benjichronic

More than appropiate, when he's healthy, he scores at a pace that is equal to a lot of more high profile offensive players, who play in better situations, at ES.

They basically got a top 10 guy they really wanted in last year's draft who SAC wouldn't trade the pick for, a first in 2018, the option to swap 1st round picks the next 2 years, and took on 2 big contracts and gave up a Euro player or 2 and I think a 2nd, maybe another? SAC thinks they are going to get Rondo and a few other guys so needed to make room but basically gave Hinkie more first round action the next 3 years. Plus they're giving up on a top 10 pick after 1 year.
- Tomfan365

And the trading for first rounders wheel continues to spin.

That Iverson kid looks like he may be something one day.

Sam Donnellon is clueless when it comes to hockey, and sports in general.
- BiggE

so he should be joining TSN any day now, right?

Hey Bill. Any news on Straka? I thought he performed well when brought up last season. I know that he needed to work on his D side of the game, but he did possess a good shot, and some speed to boot.
Salute to Razor. He was a trooper, and a team player. Wish you well.
Now, to sign MDZ, to dump some large contract guys, and I think that we will have a much better team this season; crossing my fingers.
Oh, and a shout out to Zepp. Maybe we can keep him in the minors as our third goalie.

- OrangeAndBlack1

They are down on Straka. Needs a big AHL season to become part of the plan for the NHL team. Otherwise, he probably won't get a QO next summer.

I would like to see Zepp re-signed, especially now with many of the other NHL/AHL swingmen having been signed.

You can absolutely find someone younger, for less cash to fill his role, but etremely doubtful that you can find a player as good at it, as he is.
- MJL

Actually, I never said they COULD find someone younger to fill his role. I said IF they could find someone younger and cheaper to do so, feel free to move him.

Guess you don't read nearly as well as you pointlessly quibble.

It's more that fact that it's an alternate account and he's just poking the fire to stir it up. He's basically the Seravalli of hockeybuzz.

Aside from playing the Flyers and a few playoff games, no. Put up some good numbers though. Would be tied for third on the Flyers

LOL, I'm aware of exactly what you said, I was just elaborating on the point, which I agree with. I don't see what I posted as something that was offensive, to require that response.

He was done. His speed was gone, and he was mainly a passenger.

Nah, I've returned to my usually position of just ignoring him. I don't have the time or inclination to argue about nothing all day.

Just a thought, but could cousins effectively take read's role??

Sounds like someone in Sacramento is clueless.
- BiggE

Yup, especially since when this blows up in their face those first round picks could be in pretty good spots, at least 2018 should be pretty high. The swap years, just gives the Sixers more ping pong balls if they are a lottery team. Like I said, robbery.

Yup, man needs to retire.

Wish he could convince his old teammate Vinny to do the same.

Maybe one day, though he doesn't skate as well as Read, but he's not ready for that type of role yet.

Probably not at this point. Cousins isn't as fast as Read and is (I believe) a natural center. He could maybe grow into the role, but not a drop-in right now.

He faded badly in the playoffs, which is when I got to see him play the most games.
