Now that we've lost Emery, is it more likely that Mason or Neuvirth will skate the length of the ice to beat the piss out of a goalie? |

It's more likely that Neuvirth will beat the piss out of Holtby |

Not sure. That idea hadn't crossed my mind reading your posts, so I wouldn't worry about it. It's likely your join date and the fact that trolls do wander up from under the bridge to haunt the site from time to time. |

Since I didn't get to post yesterday, here are my two cents:
The Pens stole Kessel
Glad we got Neuvirth (he was my first choice for a backup)
Washington made a good move signing Williams
I still don't know what Boston is doing
I like the Mike Green signing for Detroit - aflyerpower8
I don't know about stole but thank you, I agree that they did well for themselves (mostly with the retained salary part of the deal). You are one of the few Philly fans to acknowledge it.
Also, I thought the Green signing was a bit much for a fragile guy.
Overall, pretty surprised by the lack of crazy contracts given out yesterday. Are the GMs learning from past mistakes? Or was the UFA pool that poor? Or a combination? |

Crotchety.
I'd definitely put a big spoiler on that Gran Torino, and probably some underbody lights, and maybe some spinner rims, and a horn that goes Ole! when you honk it. |

Hextall will have to come down from the press box....
I would pay serious money to see that. |

I've read and heard several times that the Flyers will not be active during the free-agent season. I sure hope that's wrong. The whole intrigue of this for the Flyers is not about whom they can get, but whom they can get rid of.
R.J. Umberger, Andrew MacDonald, Luke Schenn, Matt Read - there's still a lot of fat left on the bone with this team, still a lot of big contracts attached to expendable players, especially when projecting into the future. The Flyers expect to have plenty of good, cheap labor joining their blue line over the next couple of seasons, players like Robert Hagg and Shayne Gostisbehere - and by the way, I am really psyched that I can now type his last name without looking it up. Honest.

I like Matt Read, but at some point, he's probably going to have to go when it comes time to resign others. |

It's more that fact that it's an alternate account and he's just poking the fire to stir it up. He's basically the Seravalli of hockeybuzz. |

Agreed, there was no Parise/Suter type. A few good players, but nothing to stand out and lack of competition on the market. |

He'd be a throw-in after last season, so I doubt Hexy does anything with him before the TDL. Of course if he plays better next season, his value goes up...to both the Flyers and potential trade partners. Conundrums. No fun. |

Hagg is not the first name I'd mention when it comes to young blue liners joining the team. He'd be 5th. |

If his play does go up (which I expect to a degree), it's a good problem for the Flyers to have. But agreed, now is the worst time to trade him. |

I just got the Mike's Pill Bottle reference. I put Richards out of mind pretty quickly after his exile, so the reference just didn't click for me. |

Why not? He's got more pro experience than anyone else right now. I wouldn't at all be surprised if he cracks the line up as a regular before anyone. |

Been saying this for months. He's a dime a dozen player that can be replaced. Hes not going to be with this team long term. |

I wish he was a dime a dozen player, then we'd be able to get more like him on the team, pretty easily. |

Not dime a dozen, he is a quality player when healthy. Speedy, defensively sound, can score at a reasonable clip, can play in all situations at all positions.
Having said all that, I don't want him to go right now, but I wouldn't be upset if he is gone (depending on the return). |
