It's disconcerting in what manner some of these rumours of egregious conduct are thrown out there. Who's to say they have any sort of merit when there is no way to substantiate unless you actually have a witness or witnesses who are willing to go on record. Alas, it's always interesting that no one ever seems to have the concrete facts surrounding such an issue. And if that is the case, it's really unfair to the player involved, given they have no control over such allegations. And ultimately it's extremely hard to sway public opinion if they are convinced you've been involved in such conduct - something which can really adversely affect your career.
Anyway, something I always keep in mind whenever any of these types of rumours come about. - Zogg
Take it for what it's worth because I don't post on here too often but the coke thing is definitely not a rumour.. I get what you're saying about the whole thing but this time it's accurate |

Though i remain somewhat complacent in regards to many of Benning's current moves, i.e Kassian/Lack, i am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt and certainly more leeway in terms his "time-frame".
That said, with the current make-up of the roster i fail to see this purported "youth movement" that many are apparently witnessing. Where and how do the likes of Sven, Virtanen, Corrado and Clendening fit on the roster below, let alone other longs shots like McCann,Cassels and Shink that many are already penciling in?
(Ignore the line combinations below)
Sedin-Sedin-Burrows
Higgins-Bonino-Vrbata
Hansen-Horvat-Dorestt
Prust-Vey?-Kenins
Edler-Tanev
Hamhuis-Sbisa
Weber( ) - Bartkowski
Change, or simply older and less talented? - Whiskey-Tango
Yeah, i was thinking the same thing...on D, Benning said he wanted 8 and now he has 8. With injuries, you have to think all will play at some point.
With the forwards, maybe Benning is going to unload a few vets after the dust settles on the FA signings. I think most agree that if we could unload any of Higgins, Burrows and possibly Hansen, that would be acceptable along the same lines as moving Bieksa, Richardson, etc.

Regardless of who "won" the trade, I'm convinced you will like Prust. I'm not sure how much he has left in the tank but you can be sure he'll leave it all on the ice. A good leader and I'll miss him.
As for Kassian, I'm not sure what to expect frankly ... the guy has size (which we need) and some potential but from reading you guys he also appears to have serious off-ice issues ... so I'm kind of apprehensive at this point.
The way I look at it, he will have less of a hit on our cap than Prust and if he doesn't perform he won't be in Montreal for very long. The 5th round pick is just a small insurance if he does gets shipped out. |

I think this is a fantastic trade for the Canucks. You guys are going to love Prust, he is team captain material. Meanwhile, Kassian is big, dumb, slow....and dumb. It will take less than 10 games for Therrien to bench Kassian.
This is a really really good deal for the Canucks. - JLO961
Not to mention he's dumb as a bag of rocks.
Sweet mitts.
But damn is he dumb.
Maybe if he just practiced more*.

Shanahan: "This was really about us saying that we’ve got to build this thing the right away, through the draft with prospects."
Guy trades one of the best goal scorers in the league and says it's about building towards the future but some Canucks fans are freaking out because we traded Zack frickin Kassin - LeftCoaster
Everybody in Van really wanted Bert 2.0
Just because you wish for something doesn't mean it's what you really need.
Benning is doing just fine guys.

His off ice issues are mostly that he looks like a younger Ron Jeremy.

Benning so far hasn't traded any assets at TDL and he said last year , he wanted to give a chance to the players who got him to the playoff run .
So there is no certainty that Benning will move anyone if Canucks are close to making the playoffs. - VANTEL
We would have been sellers at the TDL, but then Bieksa and Edler got injured and they rolled in January and February.
I blame those two. Not Benning. |

If he could ever put it together he'd be unstoppable.
The fans in Van really wanted it to work out... Hence public outcry.
Since Weise is a superstar now... The sky is the limit for Kass. |

So Kassian is gone. I don't like that we got a player over 30 but Prust is better than Kassina. The 5th was probably thrown in as a thanks for taking this lazy boozer with "back" issues??? off our hands. I didn't hate Kassian but he has issue all of us know that. |

If its truly character/off ice issues with players and JB sells low, I get it. Not a doubt he's being honest with his counterparts. There are things people shouldn't know. Good trade then for everyone. |

I really don't have a problem with it at all. 5th is a little much but not a bad deal. |

The Sedins will never get traded, and I highly doubt (I am a betting man) they would walk as UFAs. They have built their lives so much around Vancouver, from playing for the Canucks to donating millions to Sick Kids Hospital. They even have a hospital wing named after them. The numbers 22 & 33 will be retired in Vancouver. If the Sedins ever leave Vancouver, it will be to return to Sweden.
On another note, the Canucks need to do a lot more tweaking this summer. First, trade Higgins. He's not bad offensively, but I'd rather have someone younger and cheaper. I don't care for Weber, maybe we can trade him now that he is signed. Same with Sbisa.
The Canucks need to promote their propects. Bring in Virtanen, Grenier, and Subban. I think Corrado is highly overrated and should be traded. Clendening has some promise. |

Beleskey turned down 4x4 for 3.8x5. GMs have been much much smarter about over paying. |

This is a bit much but, surprisingly, Weise has been very useful to us.
As I said above, it would be great if Kassian works out but if not we still have that 5th pick as a consolation prize. You guys got rid of a problem and gained a heart & soul guy that will give you everything he's got.
Both teams are getting something in the end. |
