Yep...get one at tdl for vrbata....and one for either elder / hamhuis ++ prospect/player. Likely edler. I think JB knows exactly what hes got there....
- Bullfrog77

Hamhuis goes at deadline. But not edler.

That Hodgson for Kassian trade is going to come down to us (hopefully) getting a draft pick for Prust....so Buffalo gets nothing and we get a 4th round pick
- LeftCoaster

No....buffalo get a cap oenalty

Edler would get a better return though IMO.

my bad, I mis-read the trade details ugggg - thought Kapenen was traded TO Pitts and not the other way around. For some reason I thought Kapenen was drafted by the Leafs (perhaps confused with a similar player - Nylander). In any event, pardon me for any confusion - that's my one mistake for the year

I suggested this pre-draft, but it looks like they're going with a more methodical/statistical approach these days and are eliminating size bias from their evaluations. Similar to CHI and TB.

Kassian should help solve that. He's an inspirational, mature leader.

But seriously, Montreal won this trade value-wise.

- Nucker101

Well it all depends, we've acquired a 31 year old journeyman hockey player. Montreal has Aquired a 24 year old cokehead. So if Montreal was looking for someone to clean toilet seats with their nose....I guess you could chalk this one up as a win...

Edler needs to go now, straight across for a 4th/5th D-man making 1-2.5m/year+draft pick. That hopefully would free up enough cap room to retain 1.75 on each Sedins contract and package them for Malkin.

It's disconcerting in what manner some of these rumours of egregious conduct are thrown out there. Who's to say they have any sort of merit when there is no way to substantiate unless you actually have a witness or witnesses who are willing to go on record. Alas, it's always interesting that no one ever seems to have the concrete facts surrounding such an issue. And if that is the case, it's really unfair to the player involved, given they have no control over such allegations. And ultimately it's extremely hard to sway public opinion if they are convinced you've been involved in such conduct - something which can really adversely affect your career.

Anyway, something I always keep in mind whenever any of these types of rumours come about.

It's debatable. It's amazing what teams give for a rental compares to a long term contract. Look no further then tor got as much for franson and Santo as they did for kessel.

Sekera got a 1st and a very good prospect. Nobody takes sekera over hamhuis. It's not even xlose

Shanahan: "This was really about us saying that we’ve got to build this thing the right away, through the draft with prospects."

Guy trades one of the best goal scorers in the league and says it's about building towards the future but some Canucks fans are freaking out because we traded Zack frickin Kassin

Kessel was a cancer in the dressing room, no?

JB is creating competition, flexibility and infuseing much needed change in the orginization. Gillis went the other way....hope and dream and mortgage the future. Benning absolutely is the right man for the job! Yes there will be some hard years but we may end up what we've always been promised but never achieved. A championship caliber club, home grown
- Bullfrog77

I think he is trying to clear the decks while remaining competetive in the process. Hopefully he acquires more picks before next years draft by having a firesale at the TDL.

not according to a number of players who went on record to say Kessel was a good team-mate. Who do you believe, I guess
