Prust is not the same since his shoulder injury in Tampa.
He's always injured but never mention it.
Plus, rumors said he brings Glachenyuk and Gallagher in too many after hours - MartyMcFlyHabs
Kassian should help solve that. He's an inspirational, mature leader.
But seriously, Montreal won this trade value-wise. |

I agree, he hasn't been the best at negotiating but I think we're finding out why Gillis was hesitant to make moves during his last year and a half here. Our valuable assets all have NTC's so there aren't bidding wars for them and the guys without NTC's aren't in high demand.
People need to accept it. You guys ripped Gillis for always holding out because he kept saying that he wasn't getting offered good trades and now we have a GM who's making moves even if he's not getting the best value.
The Canucks aren't dealing from a position of strength. - Nucker101
Lets be honest about something here, the Canucks don't have any "valuable assets" outside of the Sedins and Horvat. I guess it depends on what your definition of a valuable asset is? |

The Kesler and Garrison deals were more appalling than Bieksa/Lack trades(value-wise) so this sudden uproar is funny. |

always good to see some level headed responses. Fact is our team is trending downhill, change is/was needed badly. JB is doing that because it is needed but he is taking the brunt of the city. He has done some questionably things to warrant some questioning but it is as if the witch hunt is on - everyone and there dog is making JB the new whipping boy for this team. He really isn't handcuffing us in the future though - no long term contracts and is slowly purging the old core while stocking up on prospects.
People need to give it a little time. |

They have a few, but not many that are likely to move:
Henrik(NTC)
Daniel(NTC)
Vrbata(limited NTC)
Bonino
Hamhuis(NTC)
Edler(NTC)
Tanev(just signed and still young, future/current core)
Horvat(young, future core)
McCann(Benning considers him a future core player)
Virtanen(ditto)
Boeser(ditto)
Realistically, it's Vrbata and Bonino that would have multiple teams interested in them, be easy to move and get decent returns. Bonino probably gets a 2nd. Vrbata maybe a late 1st if he has a repeat season. The rest would be difficult to move for one reason or another. |

To me a valuable asset is a guy who'll bring you a first rounder, Vrbata is the one and only guy who can do that for you.
Keeping in mind they're not trading the twins or Horvat. |

The way i see it we didn't lose anyone today that significantly added to the Canucks chances of making playoffs last year (except for Lack), and it can be argued that Markstrom is a better goalie than Lack so the Lack move is only a goaltending upgrade.
Kassian had no impact on playoffs, same with Bieksa. We replaced them with solid younger defensemen, that are just as physical or more, and then Brandon Prust who is a warrior and a leader. The team should be just as good as last year and more tougher. I don't see these moves making us worse at all.
I'm scratching my head on the 5th round pick.. but i think that is due to the fact that Montreal was giving up a leader in their dressing room and maybe canucks were missing those character guy(s) since KB is now gone. |

JB is creating competition, flexibility and infuseing much needed change in the orginization. Gillis went the other way....hope and dream and mortgage the future. Benning absolutely is the right man for the job! Yes there will be some hard years but we may end up what we've always been promised but never achieved. A championship caliber club, home grown |

Just looked at the leafs prospects.
Marner
Nylander
Kapenen
I know they are an average of 19 yrs old but the average 170lbs.
I think they need to change their model |

Derek Dorsett sent Benning a text saying "Thank You" for the Prust signing. #Canucks

Now they can split the duties. |

Oh there will be plenty more moves....may not be right away. I'd say that they will run with these moves till trade deadline. We will have a scrappy club that plays hard, much like the flames a couple years ago. But we will be at the bottom of the west or close to it. Then you'll see JB load up on picks, and maybe , just maybe the Sedins may look to get off the bus and try to win a cup |

From a hab fan perspective, I must say I like the 5th rounder and the cap savings that comes with Kassian. Prust is heart and soul but clearly slowing down a lot. not the same guy the Habs signed 3 years ago. - habfanforever
Yeh well Kassian is slowing down a lot too. |

That Hodgson for Kassian trade is going to come down to us (hopefully) getting a draft pick for Prust....so Buffalo gets nothing and we get a 4th round pick |
