So there is no certainty that Benning will move anyone if Canucks are close to making the playoffs.

That was only his first year. Plus he's already traded Garrison/Kesler/Lack/Bieksa for picks/prospects. But I do agree that doing it at the TDL is better when picks aren't valued as highly and some teams are desperate for upgrades. I dint expect the Canucks to be sitting in the same position they were last year during the 2016 TDL so selling seems more likely.

Reports are he tried but had no luck. He was out with a back injury as well.

Benning is making some very questionable moves. Like I said straight up Kassian for Prust should have been the deal. Canadiens would have got a top 6 player with size and cap relief. There was no read on to add the draft pick.
