The good is Tyler Biggs is gone, and under 2 million retaned in salary, nad Kapanen, the bad is giving back the 2nd rd pick and the other 2 scrubs
- Popcorn Kid

the 2nd will probably be 50-55, the 3rd (NJD) will be 60-65. I am ok with that

edit. We will likely have 5 picks in the top 65. I am assuming NJ will be terrible once again. Dubas and hunter might move back once or twice again, possibly giving us 7 or 8 picks in that range. we are gonna be loaded with prospects, especially if this team plays as bad as the roster looks on paper

It would be nice to see Bozak dressed for a different team in Oct.

I was thinking ...." Is THIS all we get for Phil ?"

Then I thought ... "At least the FAT (frank) is gone !"

I honestly didn't think the Leafs would have to keep salary when trading Phil Kessel.

Oh I agree.
I'm one of the only ones here that holds the opinion that Leafs got a max return in the trade.
Now the 2nd part of 'salute-gate' needs to go.
+ Lupul and maybe Bozak.

- MaximusAurelius

they did the best they could with that term at that dollar value. Shanahan just wanted to rid the team of Phil after watching him quit on the team down the stretch, that's the reason he's gone. Hw's not a Shanny Babcock type of player, As kids we called guys like Kessel "floaters". Fack him!

I agree, but at least we get a fresh start with a new core, in Oct. Dion is next, if he goes.. I would like to see Bozak gone, but I am liking this.

There was no way to get full value. His attitude and work ethic is disgusting. Teams were not lining up for him contrary to what Leafland thought. Also word is Babcock wanted him out now!

I think they got about as much as they coulda.

most were expecting roster player, 1st, cap dump...maybe prospect.

I have no problem with two of the pens top prospects, a mid-late 1st, a high 3rd and spaling for Kessel, mid-late 2nd, and two contracts who hold next to 0 value.

kind of a lateral move. kassian only scored when he played with the sedin's.
He will miss half the year again and end up with 15-20 pts max

Yeah, they got a 3rd or 4th line guy who's bigger, younger and cheaper than Prust.

That's it. Nothing to see there.

This not a good deal for the Pens. They are in cap hell for a long time and their prospect pool is thin. They will regret this trade and will have to trade Malkin within the next 2 years.

It's clear Penguins are planning for a cup run in 2015-2016 and 2016-2017. what happens after that.. they'll see.

Complete 180 day all told though: the contracts were all reasonable (everyone was saying Belesky was getting Clarkson money/term) and so many trades too.

GMs are wising up.

Not a bad move for the Habs and they cleared $1.25 mil in cap space. Prust was a goner as soon as he entered rehab.

I thought they would cause every 'insider' said they would.

According ti Dubas it was a must for every team they negotiated with.

Oh and Roger said they wouldn't have to so that gave it away for me.

Love you Ro.

This was easy to see yesterday. GM's are not as eager to pass out the big money, long term deals.
