Why do these sheep agree with every move this team makes, even when its obvious that it sucks? This is why they haven't done anything since 1967, because they trade for a player like Aki Berg and everyone is like great move, real astute.

The fact is that Shanahan and Babcock both obviously wanted him gone and had seen more than enough of his act in this town. That's good enough for me.

I am probably screwing this up as I am brand new here but I could not agree more with the above statement. I think for once they might actually be trying to rebuild. I never thought I would see it happen.

Oh yeah, I have been reading all the posts for years here and finally found the courage to join in the fray.

Not to mention the leafs already have a 181st line lw a solid 2nd line center and a starting goalie as well as a top 2 dman and at least a number 4 guy

A top 6 forward, a 2nd pairing defenceman, a 1st round pick and a 3rd round pick.

It's really not that awful.

- BetterCallSaul

Agree
It would of been nice,to get a bit more, but honestly i'm not sure you get much more.

Well, history repeatedly shows us that the opposite of whatever you say is usually right, so... There's that.

no, because you call people sheep and sound like a certain UG.
For the record, I share your opinion on the trade.
And to answer Peca fan fan, its not what we got back in the trade so much that I have the problem with, its that we still had to eat 1.25M and send a 2nd round pick back. Which to me is dumb.

Yeah, him too.
- BetterCallSaul

I agree. I actually like the deal. People seem to forget that Kessel had total control.of where he would go. Which hurts the Leafs in terms of what return they would get

Which Wendel trade lol....

I actually loved the Sundin one......but i have to admit, I also liked the one where we gave up the Luongo pick to get him back haha

Unfortunately, for all of us the scale seems to mostly fall to the bad side no? At least recent history would suggest that anyway.

I've been out all day... Was it confirmed if it was Leafs 2nd or Pens 2nd from the Winnik trade?

This is true. Again though, its not the return as much as the kickers we gave the Pens back. ie. the 2nd round pick and 1.25M retained.

How can you be pleased with this team? The organization after all of the years of mediocre play? After just giving Kessel away for nothing? I'm sorry I'm not content with garbage. The Leafs are my team, always will be....but I prefer to expect better.
- ThePresident

Meh, Kessel being gone is a small plus on its own. Everything else is a bonus.

Chill and hang on for about 2 more crummy seasons

Pens 2nd from the Winnik trade. Which I guess works out since Winnik is now a leaf again, so really we got a 3rd for Winnik?

False logic.

If Kessel doesn't fit yout timetable, I get it.

But don't give him away for crap.

This deal takes away the Leafs' best player.

For what?

- Atomic Wedgie

It's a poop return …but, it was always going to be b/c of the NTC. PK helps this team finish with more points …not having him hurts this team and pushes them lower in the standings. Less Pk means a better pick and it's clear this team is planning to win with whatever assets they drag out of this and the next few drafts.

I'm disappointed but I'm not sure there was a better choice.

Ya the lottery protection is my only beef with the trade.
