The facts that Leafs Nation criticizes Kessel for being out of breath at the end of a shift is a perfect example of why he needed to get the hell out of this town.

I am embarrased to be a citizen of Leafs Nation.

You know he wasn't a good fit. It has nothing to do with the players ability.

Martin Jones, a back up goaltender, received more in terms of value than Phil Kessel.

What other fanbase would be happy with trading an elite player for a handful of garbage?

It's embarrassing that Leafs fans don't realize this trade set the franchise back.

- Atomic Wedgie

It really did, and they better get to trading JVR quickly, while he still has value. He's not going to have the same offensive production without Kessel.

1st. Wrong
2nd. Martin Jones had more than 1 team he could be traded to, no didn't have $50+M in outstanding salary going with him.

Clearly this was the best deal there was for Kessel, and seems like they had made the decision they weren't bringing him back..

False logic.

If Kessel doesn't fit yout timetable, I get it.

But don't give him away for crap.

This deal takes away the Leafs' best player.

For what?

The fact is that Shanahan and Babcock both obviously wanted him gone and had seen more than enough of his act in this town. That's good enough for me.

I agree that the return wasn't great. Would of been nice to ge5 a corner stone back for sure for what they have up but I still think the leafs will be alright. If you looks at the depth chart as fart as prospects go right now as opposed to what we had any leafs fan should be a little bit excited. Marker nylander kapanen Brown Johnson leipsic Gauthier bracco timashov dermott Finn loov Percy granberg Nilsson and the rest of the players we just drafted is a lot better than we've had in the last 20 years

No one is arguing he wasn't our most talented player.

The return is the return, I happen to like it, you don't and that's fine.

This is the new NHL, these are the returns for star players.

The player had to go, we need to start somewhere man.

A top 6 forward, a 2nd pairing defenceman, a 1st round pick and a 3rd round pick.

It's really not that awful.

Why do these sheep agree with every move this team makes, even when its obvious that it sucks? This is why they haven't done anything since 1967, because they trade for a player like Aki Berg and everyone is like great move, real astute.
