Gotta love leaf fans
They want a tear down and rebuild.
Trade their top player and some contracts for space.
Gain 2 prospects, 1st and 3rd rd pick
Fans complain

We will probably add more picks and prospects in the year.

Give it time. Let's see how the prospects and picks turn out first

i have no clue. i just know they didn't have to trade him now. just because there are limited options today, doesn't mean there will be limited options forever.

stop twisting my words around to suite your blinded argument.

- Pen15

The other side also, is Pitt was not finding their winger they wanted. If the few available get moved around it's likely they would offer more when they missed out. Even if they didn't, there was no rush. I wanted Phil gone, but retaining salary was just awful, especially since trading Dion without retaining is far less likely...

It just wasn't a good trade. They should have gotten more for Kessel.

Kessel will probably score 40 goals with Crosby.

Maybe the Pens will trade Malkin now???

explain that logic please. they were a lottery team with him last year....what's to say they wouldn't be with him again this year?
- Pen15

because you just removed 10% of the teams goal production and havent replaced it?

Its going to suck big time. These blogs will turn into nightly arguments about integrity and playing the game the right way, and how the team is stealing fans money.

Good luck to you.

That has nothing to do with scoring being down across the league as a whole though... right?

It's (frank)ing amazing that you can see into the future and know how these prospects and picks turn out 5 years from now to determine they got fleeced, but yes - needing to trade him and his NTC lessened the possible return. This is a necessary reality.
- 1979AD

i don't think any of them will end up being top players in the nhl....i know that's an assumption but it's just an opinion. i think kapenan will be a good nhler, and the late 1st will probably be a servicable nhler...but neither would be enough for an elite goal scorer

the leafs needed one of matta or pouliot to make this deal fair. a true top prospect. and the 1st shouldn't have been lottery protected.

Well this was the week/time to trade him. Shanny already stated that this was gonna happen and babcock had his input in it so what do you do. Get the best package available and move on. Only time will tell how these prospects work out. You gotta get rid of the fact we lost Seguin, Hamilton etc. For him. And this is what we got today.

Crosby has not been the same since his concussions.... He is still better than everyone else, but not the same. With Phil though, his numbers will be better this year for sure. His wingers have been shyat for a while now...
