if they couldn't get the price they were looking for they should've waited until trade deadline...there was no rush to trade him now.

Think about it. Kessel had an 8 team trade list. 7 teams saying no means there is only one team that would take him. No way leafs trade in their division. Which eliminated Boston and mtl

I would like to congratulate Phil Kessel on his miraculous ascent from heartless, out of shape, bad attitude, locker room cancer to elite top 5 RW in the blink of an eye.

Also, congrats to Tyler Biggs and Tim Erixon who have gone from total busts to former high end draft picks with high upside.

My condolences to Kapanen who just as rapidly dropped from high end offensive prospect to total bust.

Harrington has gone from serviceable top 4 D prospect to total bust.

And we may as well just go ahead and declare whoever is selected with the PIT 1st and 3rd next year as...you guessed it...total busts!

Unless of course those picks and/or prospects get traded somewhere else

Sounds more like female doging than anything else. Take 3 secs too actually look at the prospects/players we acquired. Little more in depth than a Wikipedia search. I know some leaf fans are prone to hate every trade the leafs make. Understandable, I'll go sociological for a second look more towards the macro picture than micro.

And why can't that logic run both ways?

If teams managed to feel they addressed their scoring needs through FA without giving up substantial assets, they'd have been just as fast to pass on kessel.
