We can finally let it all out....

UNLEASH FURY ON PHAT PHIL

- robin_steele264

That fury was there for a while, went away when it become obvious he was being trade and has now returned.

I liked Kessel and thought he was best player on the team, warts and all. I never thought we would get Pens best guys but have to assume Hunter knows the kids that are coming.

I think it wa clear that Shanny had made his mind up about Phil at the end of the season.

I like it. It's basically two firsts with one being kapanen. A decent d prospect and a roster player center. What more was expected.
- TonkaPhaneuf

we should have gotten mcdavid, hall and eberle apparently.

Kapanen was def the top offense prospect.

But Harrington was below Pouliot and Maatta on the depth chart for D-men. And is more the stay at home type.

- Genobuzz

PERFECT! the leafs already have a bunch of puck moving D.. they need reliability in the prospect pool

its not mediocre at all

this is a perfect move when you consider the players the leafs drafted this year and the prospects they already have.. they are building a team that will compliment each other

brilliant trade for a fat lazy guy who has become so ridiculously predictable on the ice he isnt even that effective anymore

2-3 years that chubby (frank) is gonna slow down.. just wait and see.

- Dozzer

Excuse me but Twitter said Phil was in the best shape at camp last year!

What did you think we were going to get? We got 2 top end prospects and a first rounder........ what exactly did you think a trade was going to consist of for a rebuilding team?
- Smitty98

Seriously. When this whole thing started, it was a prospect, a 1st and a cap dump.

I agree....wasn't gonna call him a chubby (frank) myself because I don't want the ban, but you said it and it's hard to disagree.

2 months...where would he be traded in 2 mths?

Pitts doesn't get Kessel today them move on and spend the money some where else, as does the other teams hoping to win the Stanley Cup this year. IMO

- Garnie

I was replying to someone else who mentioned 2 months but my point was they could have held on to him for a while. I would have been fine with keeping him for another full season. They traded him after his worst season as a Leaf. That's selling low.

I get that....lol....but what the heck, they finally hit the big red button. This is a good start.see how many picks and prospects they can get this summer, stink it up this year and start wheeling and dealing for the right young veterans and the build starts taking shape.
- HonkyTonkMan

I've just never been in a hurry to see them unload their top players. I was more patient than most I guess.
