He is right that all the details aren't published yet so let's wait and suspend judgement. However, when it was first announced, it sounded like a bad deal for the Leafs. Just sayin.

Kapanen is not a top prospect?

He was a potential top 10 two years ago. Most pens fans didnt wan't him moved.
Harrington is solid as hell.

all the poop about the leafs being lucky to get a 1st back if they eat 2 mil salary, they only eat 1.2 and get two of pittsburghs top 5 prospects, an NHL roster player, a first, and unnamed pick and people still arent happy

Those weren't Pittsburgh's top prospects.
- Jeffmt

Kapanen was def the top offense prospect.

But Harrington was below Pouliot and Maatta on the depth chart for D-men. And is more the stay at home type.

If the retained salary stays off the cap, then I could care less what they retain. But if this money stays on the cap, which to my knowledge it does, this deal hampers the leafs ability to be competitive down the line. 1.2 million isn't much, but if you are taking an 8 year hit of anything I would expect a better return
- mycokes

It's 7 years and the Leafs won't be near the cap for the next 3/4 years or even more possibly. The money retained means nothing.

It's an excellent deal as we are REBUILDING.

has half of your forgot this?!?!

- Lucas Neilson

They gave their best trade chip away for a mediocre return. That's not a rebuilding move. Rebuilding doesn't mean just getting rid of guys for whatever, you have to capitalize on your best assets.

Jokinen wasn't their top prospect, but he was damn close to the top of the list.

He's not 23 anymore, will decline within next few seasons so it's a good return

I like it. It's basically two firsts with one being kapanen. A decent d prospect and a roster player center. What more was expected.

wait did we get the 2nd or are we giving up a 2nd? Mckenzie said we gave it up, which is why I said this deal keeps getting more brutal. Which is it?

its not mediocre at all

this is a perfect move when you consider the players the leafs drafted this year and the prospects they already have.. they are building a team that will compliment each other

brilliant trade for a fat lazy guy who has become so ridiculously predictable on the ice he isnt even that effective anymore

2-3 years that chubby (frank) is gonna slow down.. just wait and see.

I get that....lol....but what the heck, they finally hit the big red button. This is a good start.see how many picks and prospects they can get this summer, stink it up this year and start wheeling and dealing for the right young veterans and the build starts taking shape.
