I actually don't mind the deal. I was hoping to get one of two roster players as well, such as Sutter, to flip for more assets. That's the only thing I'm a little disappointed about.

I like it. Kapanen was just a first round pick plus a 1st next year plus a dman who was on team canada Jr's, and a center.

Those are not top end prospects. Good prospects, sure. But Pittsburgh has Maata and maybe Pouliot as top end prospects. They didn't even give us the best of their poopty prospect bunch.

Not quite as bad as that, but yeah, underwhelming. I think they should've ate another year of contract, let him put up a Kessel-like season and see what kind of return he could've received in March/June/July.

Why not? They had no reason to move him now, they don't need the cap space, no expectations... could've spun all kinds of BS about how he's all Gary Roberted out...

I think, so far, that this sounds like a horrible return

The Leafs did not get ANY blue chip prospects back (None of the guys coming back have a chance at being top six or top 1-2 Dmen) & the first they got will be in the 26-30 range.
