Galchenyuk will be one of best 10-15 Cs in league for years to come, and definitely a #1C.
The guy is a great player, and when playing on a team with a coach that gives him some time on C, he'll light up the league and be a 70+points player.
One so-so playoff series for a 21y old player does not mean he's a bust (the guy still got 46points last season on a Habs team that is one of the worst in offensive production).
His advanced stats numbers look really good as well; something Dubas and co are obviously looking at.

Oh noes! Second overall?! Whatever will we do with that pick?! You're saying it like he's a bust already.
- Aaron_85

There's a lottery for 1st three overall picks in 2016.
Galchenyuk was 3rd overall + young but ready to play.
It's really a no brainer to do it. (if he would be interested in signing the offer sheet)

Signing Stamkos if you can is a no brainer.

Not drinking bleach is a no brainer.

I really liked him too.

I felt the media was completely unfair to him many times over.

I thought he looked like a guy who wanted to win but it didn't seem the team/MLSE thought the same as him and they never built a team for the guy.

No excuses now for him. He better hit 40 goals.

- Aaron_85

I don't agree, insofar as MLSE didn't surround him (try to) with talent.

The attempt was made - less than three years ago we were talking about playoff runs. It didn't pan out for a number of reasons, things were said and the new management has finally decided it's time to change the forty year status quo.

For people whining about the size of Leafs draftees this year, they should check out next year's draft. They're all monsters.

Maybe you're right. I don't think the team was properly assessed by Nonis after Burke left.

If he saw it for what it was maybe it would be different. Oh well. New chapter now!

17 names, four of them are in the last few years of their (productive) careers.
Galchenyuk fits in quite well in that list (he won't be top5, but in the 10-15 range which is good enough)

When I look at the boatload of crap the Leafs loaded up on the past few days, I am forced to conclude that they are going to keep all the kids on the Marlies this year.

They've got a bunch of seat warmers on the big club this year.

And Oh My God Bozak is going to suck this year.

- Atomic Wedgie

I was thinking about this early in the morning when I should have been sleeping (that hip thing I was telling you about) anyway...I started to think they can't move Bozak right now. They need someone to play 1st line, someone that doesn't cost a fortune and someone who will suck - he's become a perfect fit. Unless Arcobello becomes that 1st line guy - honestly how bad could he be compared to Bowsack.

I think our company may trade in their Leaf season tickets for Marlie season tickets.

Does babcock still want to coach Phaneuf?

More prospects would be nice... and make a killer Marlies team next year.

now with Kessel gone, who's the new whipping boy? Phanuef get it all now? Or Reimer? Who's the media going to run out of town next?

I think a Bozak still gets around 50 points with lups and JVR
