Yep

These guys take time to develop, have to expect most need time in the AHL. This Boeser guy sounds like he just needs more development and we'll have to wait and see.

Trying to be patient, but it is not much fun.

- hillbillydeluxe

Hopefully the Canucks can convince him to scrap his collage thoughts.

Leaf fans are convincing themselves that Hodgson + Babcock will work.
- A_SteamingLombardi

Only if Hodgson pays his dues in the A and is brought up slowly

I, for one, am glad he's gone so we can develop Markstrom. Who I think has a higher upside than Lack.
- LeftCoaster

Time will tell but I got a feeling Markstrom is not in the canucks future either. Stop gap until better arrives.

I know some people don't like button but he said on tsn radio today that Boeser was one of the best goal scorers over the last few drafts. Absolutely loved the pick.
- anavar

I had 5 in total that was hoping we would be available to take at 23. Boeser was one of them but he was my 5th choice. So I'm still happy with the pick especially considering 2 of my 5 choices went in the 2nd round one went 30th one went 20th.

It turns out to be cheaper to just give him some coke to take over the boarder.

I see a new line of work being created here. Sabotage careers of unwanted players so teams can void contracts. I wonder what a team would pay to save millions...

Hes on a the first plane to Russia as soon as he gets his money. Probably becomes the KHL leading scorer in the upcoming season.

Haven't been on here in months, but the panic and hair pulling on Twitter and Canuck bloggers has gone off the deep end. Wow, Lack was traded for a third. Only an idiot could trade a backup for a third. Obviously, Benning must have turned down all sorts of better offers because he wanted a third. He said before the draft he wanted to recoup a second and third round pick, so he traded his backup for the pick he wanted.

Schneider was traded when he was 27, Lack was traded when he was 27, Luongo was traded for when he was 27....basically if you're 27 and you're a goaltender for the Canucks - you're (frank)ed!!

So what are the vegas odds on canucks having another goalie controversy next season?

That would be a team of one but I don't think VANTEL was being literal. His point being to create a roster spot for a younger player.

As you have pointed out many times draft picks beyond the first two rounds have low percentages of making the NHL so maybe getting rid of the player no matter the return is best for everyone. Bieksa included.

Again, just trying to translate what VANTEL was trying to say. But it's not too far fetched as other teams wave unwanted players all the time.

He was suggesting that all veterans had little to no value despite SJ offering a 2016 2nd and rumours of plenty of teams having interest in Bieksa. He probably expected Kessel, Phaneuf and Sharp to be traded and came to that conclusion which is wrong. It just means that those teams are holding out for better offers. Pit has been rumoured to offer Kunitz, 1st, Pouliot for Kessel(other pieces involved but I can't remember) and Toronto apparently said no.

Plus he was acting like day 1 of the draft was a TDL, trades can still be made and this UFA class sucks so teams that miss out will be willing to trade for a Sharp, Kessel, Wideman or Bieksa.

If Markstrom has a similar season to Lack and Miller has another similar season then by the TDL people will want Miller gone and Markstrom getting more starts.

As much as I dislike Miller, I do think he's better next year than he was this year though. And Markstrom will be up and down until he gets comfortable so I'd say the odds are low.

Chicago and Columbus are working in a trade involving Brandon Saad. More to come.

Ryan Murray maybe? Or Rychel + something good?

I am happy Lack got traded. I loved him as a personality but hated his goofy ways. I may be old school but I prefer goalies that take things seriously not be goofballs. I want a Tim Thomas, Quick, Crawford, Roy, Brodeour type goalie.

As for the compensation for Lack. Benning got what he could. There value is with the buyer not the seller. Be glad that some team valued Lack. If I was a GM for other team I would have offered a 5th only. The goalie market is strong this summer and Canucks have 3 goalies with no room. I would OS Markstrom at 2*3 and force the Canucks to either match or lose Markstrom.

If we start looking at what everyone else does we will never be happy. Focus on what we have and build on that.

On KB, I think Benning is comfortable in keeping him till TDL. I am assuming that is the reason why Weber was not qualified. Seeing that now we have Clendenning and Corrado on one way and still have KB it would mean we already have 8 d and cant. Any signing will be for Minors now.
