Can't have a true rebuild until we shed 14 million in salaries but in all honesty I hope they stay to mentor baertschi and Virtanen for this year and next. |

Brien never fights the Hound let alone kill him in the books. He gets mortally wounded in the tavern scrap. All the graphic gay love is not in the novels.
It takes Martin 5-6 years to write one of these novels but the show is getting ahead of where the books are already. I hope HBO isnt going to influence the way the later novels would have came out.
The books are written totally different than your typical novel. There is no central character. Each chapter is named after the character it involves and written with their perspective I guess you would call it.
Something you dont get in the show is the hilarious sarcastic thoughts of Tyrion after every comment someone makes or Cersei's evil chilling thoughts before every sentence she speaks. You can't pull that off on the screen. You are not in the mind of the tv character. - boonerbuck
Not to mention:
Sansa never even meets Ramsey
Stanis doesn't burn his child at the stake (nor does he even die through the 5th book). Totally out of his charachter
Arya doesn't turn assassin in Bravos and (apparently) go blind
Myrcella doesn't get killed (and Jamie never went to Dorne)

You nailed it there, sign a 1.5 - 2 UFA D or trade for one. No other moves are required unless you could unload Vrbata, Higgins, Burrows etc. |

Our team just 5th in our conference and have lost only spare parts. Highly unlikely unless we shed some key components and give their spots to rookies. |

I read those books years before they were a tv show. Its hard to remember all that went on when watching the show. Everyone dies. |

Those will be off the books soon. I okay with JB watching teams around him get better. I think he knows next year will be difficult. |

What you're dismissing is the ability of every other team in the West to take another step forward or teams like LA & SJ to have a bounceback. |

I just think they dilute an already good story for the pure purpose of shock value and trying to corner ever single viewing market that may exist. It detracts from the story IMO but each to their own. |

the girl being burned was imo a stupid shock value moment that served no purpose, wasn't a fan at all. Seemed tacky. |

I'm not dismissing it, but if you think that LA getting Lucic and SJ (aging as we are) bouncing back (by signing Martin Jones?) will relegate us to picking top 5 all of a sudden I think you'll be disappointed.
We'd need to shed the Sedins and let Markstrom start as 1A before we'd have any chance of that. |

Well said I think this is the year we finally see Edmonton push for a playoff spot. If McDavid is as good as they say(Better than Crosby according to Gretzky...so I can't dismiss that) then they will be a team to be reckoned with in the very near future. |

Agreed. It was also completely out of character for Stanis. |

Sedins are 35....they are slowing down at a huge rate. I don't think we see them beyond 60-65 points this year if healthy. Wouldn't even be surprised if they only hit 50. Hamhuis is slowing down as well. Our only hope to have a good season is if miller plays lights out in 45-50 of his probable 65 starts.

I didn't say we're about to have a good season. I said we're still too good to be picking top 5. |
