He played well for Carolina when they won their cup though.

Ahh, that's right, he played quite a number of seasons for Carolina (and did end up winning it all).

Again, a great skater but just didn't have the hands

Edler, Burrows and Higgins. I don't care if they have value...threaten to waive them and send them to Buffalo!!!
- Nucker101

Bury them in the minors with no food and water. They can tell the Grand Sparrow when they are ready to waive.

The way we trade, we'd probably get 2 2nds for Edler: one in 2017, the other 2019.

or why not just go for it and accumulate as many picks as possible in the 2020 draft. Let the 'transition' really begin, yes....

If we actually had the guts to move Edler right now to teams that have been after him, he would garner good return. Philly anyone?

I appreciate Benning not letting these things marinate. Bieksa, Lack, Kesler, these guys all needed to go for various reasons, and while I haven't been blown away by the return for any of them, I'm glad it hasn't dragged on into the season. That circus is toxic for the team and the fans, as we unfortunately know.

I think he probably could have gotten more at the deadline, but we need the cap space, and a 2nd by a contender was probably the best he would could have hoped for, for KB. Hamhuis however should be resigned for a couple of years at less money or else traded at the TDL to get assets for him.

The troubling thing is I don't think this team has improved (near term or long) after any of those trades. Just "not having them here" is perhaps a reward in itself for a single player but 3? And including Garrison, 4?

In the meantime that savvy trader Sweeney in BOS, the laughing stock of the NHL on draft day, gets a 1st rounder for Martin Jones - a way back backup behind arguably the league's best defense. Unlike Lehner ("he's out in the East, teams don't know Lack out East) it was San Jose that gave up that 1st for Jones.

I'm thinking Higgins is a TDL chip. Hansen is such a low return they may just keep him in the line up for his versatility. He plays all 4 lines.
