Also—a hockey note. Twitter is reporting that it's Ryan Stanton and Yannick Weber (not McMillan) who haven't received qualifying offers today. - Carol Schram
Shouldn't we at least hold on to Weber's rights? 10 goals for D is nothing to sneeze at

I am not sure how much value these players really have. Thought Stanton and Weber would have value with other clubs, but maybe not.
I remember when we picked up Stanton off waivers and were lucky to do so because the d was so thin, it is funny because it feels like the d may be worse at this point.
U gotta believe the Aquillinis send down a mandate to TL.
That being a playoff contender.
TL n JB both work under that mission goal hence a retool.
So far last year produced results.
JB hired WD n started his vision off n then made roster changes.
Vrbata signing indicated JB's skill n judgement on UFA's.
Dorsett n Richardson were further examples.
Vey n Sven n Clendenning dealt with depth issues that we lacked with nothing in Utica that was helping soon other than Corrado.
Upcoming season will prolly be both interesting n not playoff bound.
A good time for the transition process to show progress.
The 2-3 yrs with NTC's expiring n good prospects seasoned n ready look bright.
It won't get the nob totally done but 2-3yrs much can change n prospects will boom or bust n dictate where we stand.
Much work yet to do n changes be ongoing but 2-3yrs is a long time to see the New Canucks on ice.
I'm just kidding, he's worth qualifying but next year is make or break for him. He basically the upper body strength of my little brother. Mason Raymond might kick his ass and he's not exactly an offensive dynamo.

A serviceable depth d man but idk if another contract was needed.
Too many other options to try.
Weber could have easily received a QO and then have his rights traded for a later pick or random prospect.
I knew Stanton was gone. - EagleNuck
Sounds like the issue with Weber was the fact that he had arbitration rights—and 10 goals. That would have put him in a strong negotiating position to ask for more than the Canucks can pay.
He'll get a chance to test the market, but the Canucks might still be able to re-sign him for less than they'd have to pay otherwise. I think this is similar to what happened with Mason Raymond in his last year here.

Good point on Weber. I was never a big fan of his anyway but it sucks that we couldn't sell high on him.

yup, agreed. If we get the same linden vey this year - not good.
