@NEWS1130Sports: Been told that #Canucks ufa Brad Richardson is hitting the market tomorrow. There will be no last minute deal with Vancouver.

He'll be a good value signing for someone. Always liked him here.

- Nucker101

He'll keep the team doctors busy where ever he goes, that's for sure.

Yup. 10th overall. Usually means they've already talked to him or his agent so I assume this means he'll be in the QMJHL next year. I was hoping that he would get drafted more so than Lukas Jasek since there's always a chance that a late round Russian never bothers to come to North America unless he feels like he might play in the NHL and get good money.
- Nucker101

Rubel is so poopty. Good he learns the NA game too. Also able to see him more often.

If you have good management for sure. Treliving seems to be pretty good at his job thus far.

The Lucic trade looks damn good, Hamilton trade looks worse and worse. Draft still looks horrible considering who they passed on. Overall, I'd say he's done more harm than good. Although you can probably blame the scouts as much as him about the draft but we can only speculate on how much influence a GM has in drafting. I'm not familiar with his history.

Aside from his mouth I think Burke is an excellent manager. He had that one huge blunder of a Kessel deal in Toronto but aside from that his record is excellent.
- whosyodaddy

Burkie is an excellent gm. I was choked when he was not "re-signed" here... but it's pretty clear that he has a tendency to grate on people (especially his superiors). For a very good gm, he must be a serious d!ck to keep getting fired over personal reasons.

just hoping JB is able to hold onto his draft picks and/or acquire some new ones.

When JB says we didn't have the assets to get a player like Hamilton, the only way we will get one of these future top dmen is to draft them. So hoping he holds onto his picks and has some success with drafting.

Eddie did play 41 games each of the last two seasons. 9 shy of your benchmark of a #1 goalie. Just saying.
- bloatedmosquito

More accurately, *he is probably ready to be a starter now*... 40 games a couple of seasons in a row... he is ready for his shot. He still has to prove he can do it though.

You seem to think I just said that he's not ready. I just said he has yet to prove he is a starter or a #1. Follow?

When has Lack proven he can be a starter? He's only proven he can start games. A *proven* starter would have a season under his belt as the #1. Lack filled in for Miller's injuries. I would have to disagree with people that this does prove you are a bonified starter. It just means you can fill in during a injury.

The pressure of starting the season as #1 and actually playing 50-60 games while holding it together would be proven imo. Even Schneider didn't leave here a number 1.

- boonerbuck

My point was at times he was. Lehner has never done anything. All im saying I dont see how the sens got the first.

Yeah that transition to Nonis hurt. The best move that Nonis made Keenan actually made for him.

We have been hearing lately how the Canucks passed on Beech to draft Hodgson, after a year or two, it looked like the Canucks made the right decision, now it looks like Hodgson may have not been the best choice either.

This drafting stuff takes a while to shake out before any conclusions should be reached. Very tricky business.

Me too - I hope they have in the back of their minds that the Canucks are not a playoff team now, which means they need to keep picks and acquire more if at all possible.

Other than Edler the team really doesn't have some major trade pieces, like a 27 year old Milan Lucic, to get more first rounders.

Anything? When Anderson went down with a concussion and then a knee injury Lehner did an excellent job filling in for him on a young Ottawa team.

Can you imagine what would have happened if Nonis was out of the office on his 2nd lunch when Keenan called.

You have to keep in mind that Murray was in the Ottawa brain trust when they drafted Lehner.

His opinion on Lehner was probably solidified about Lehner long ago. He knows/knew what he was trading for.

Not to say that he didn't overpay but opinion determines market value and he had a long time to form his opinion on Lehner.

True, but when not even the guys who make lists that are a bit crazy have a guy like Senyshen rated as a first rounder then I'd say it's a long shot. Barzal and Connor are universally viewed as better prospects.

It's not even close to being the same as Hodgson vs Beach or Hodgson vs Kassian.

Lehner has been around a bit longer, '10-11 as a backup.

None of these goalies Lack was bunched up with are established starters. Just a crazy market.

Lehner's numbers are comparable to Lack's yet he's still 23 with upside and more controllable years ahead of him. His value is higher.
