You'll never get anywhere with Tannehill man.

No.

I don't believe you said the Canucks lost to the Flames because, the D-Core was not practicing.

I generally enjoy your posts.

After watching what happened here the other day I think we could all try a little harder to get along.

I have been here a while and watched many Canucks Posters come and go, but you guys for the most part are a pretty good lot and have been fairly consistent.

It was tough to watch what happened go down.

I think we need to realize this is going to be a 3-5 year process with this team. It's going to be a rough ride for a couple years and we need to accept that instead of trying to fire our GM or trade our goalies every 5 minutes.

We have been pretty spoiled over the last 10-13 years with our team and don't think for one second that fans of other teams are going to let that go easily. Success ( at least for a Canucks fan-- Still no cup ) breeds haters.

- rugdnit

It's the 3-5 year process I am questioning. It all depends on what Benning does this off season. If JB is aggressive this off season it will be a 3-5 year rebuild. If JB is done wheeling and dealing then it will be a longer retool/rebuild.

Looking at other teams rebuild process it seems 5 years is the minimum amount of time. I think 3 years is being very optimistic.

Benning acknowledged the Division & Conference got better. If he doesn't make a move to free up cap space in the next couple of days, it's going to be a long summer.
- VanHockeyGuy

Stick to the process, UFA's get you nothing in terms of closer to a Cup so continue the draft and develop mantra.

Benning's msg to fans "We're going to continue to try & do everything we can to make this team something special...won't happen overnight."

It's not going to be overnight; it's going to be drafting well and developing them - GM Jim Benning on @TSN1040 #Canucks

The only reason i'm an advocate of signing UFA's at this point is to be able to flip them at the deadline for futures.

If anyone should have a rivalry its us because of our junior allegiances but I think that just gives us more in common.

Benning says he was not involved on Hamilton. Only Lucic. "We didn't have the assets to acquire a player of Hamilton's ilk" #Canucks

As mentioned, Canucks just don't have the assets to acquire a guy like this and Botchford mentioning you trade your next two first round picks for him is ridiculous.

Benning said every time conversations come up about a player like Hamilton other teams immediately ask for Horvat, Virtanen, McCann etc. and he's just not willing to trade those guys and give up any chance at a future for one player.

What I would like to see him do if deals KB, is acquire a close to NHL ready defensive prospect. One that is not waiver eligible and fits the profile the blue line needs. Pay the price if you need to KB +?

It's the right decision. You either draft your own Hamilton type or try to find one as a UFA. Both extremely difficult to do.

There were a lot of young players who didn't get qualified yesterday. Is there a fit out there for one of these FA's? Who and what position?

yeah, im not on the witch hunt to burn him at the stake. People need to realize it is going to take some time. Some contracts have me wondering but we likely need to wait a couple years and then evaluate.

I'm hopeful Benning becomes a better GM as time goes on...much like Garth Snow has become.

He's in the shyte with the cap, dealing with the hand he was dealt. I think JB knows he was probably a bit lucky with the regular season results last year, he also must be aware this year will be much more difficult.

Well especially since those next 2 1st rounders will probably be top 10, with a really good chance of being top 5 overall picks.

This will be a transition year. Canucks will be integrating a lot of their youth this year. (Virtanen, Grenier, Corrado, Clendening... maybe a cassels at the end of the year) I doubt they'll make the playoffs and i'm okay with a higher pick as long as the young guys get some experience. I think guys like Vrbata and some of the other vets will be dealt for picks if it looks like the young guys can play. Canucks should have a lot more assets and cap space to really make moves next year
