Welcome, here's a beginner's quiz for us to get to know you better.

1. What do you think of Luca Sbisa and his contract?

2. Would you every consider or suggest waiving Kevin Bieksa?

3. How do you value Chris Tanev?

- EagleNuck

that's funny..

1. I'm on your side nucker101.

2. I am not Vantel (although I do appreciate his input).

3. He is a very solid defense man (not everybody has to be physical).

So who plays net in 16/17? Or you don't care, as long as Millers gone?
- LeftCoaster

Well, ideally (and hopefully) you would hope that Markstram finally reaches his pottential and successfully translates his AHL performance to the NHL level.

Other than that, I really don't know the solution if Markstrom hasn't showed he's ready. That said, I'm sure there are going to be more goalies available - in the likes of the Cam Talbot, Anti Rannta, Hammond etc mold, so I'm sure that won't be as big of a problem (as is the case, however, with respect to building a quality defensive corp)

But other than that, yes, I hope Miller is gone (too much salary and an eroding talent - probably even more so by that point in time)

I don't think it's a coincidence they gave Markstrom a two year deal, they'll develop him properly under Miller for the next two years....sorry.

If the team is going to be trading eroding talent to improve the club, I hope it's the Sedin twins first and foremost.

Welcome to the insanity/inanity, Mr Magoo

A couple of other queries as part of the initiation process:

1) What are your thoughts on Ryan Kesler
2) Are you pro Vantel or anti-Vantel (Sedins)

It would be suicidal IMO to move Miller now unless the return was spectacular which just won't happen. JM can learn a lot from Miller over the next two years and it's quite unreasonable to throw Markstrom to the wolves without a vet to shelter him.

First, let me say that I really enjoy your writing style.

1. I never was a ryan kesler fan and I thought they should have traded him years ago when his value was high (sorry nucker).

2. I am anti-vantel when it comes to getting rid of the sedins (but I am not anti-vantel). Although, I did not like the contract extension (thought it was too high for Daniel).

well, if they're declining then they should start showing it, no? let's see, phenomenal come-back season in terms of offensive production, again they were the top two players on the Canucks - not to mention in the top 20 in scoring for the umpteenth year. So, what else is new?

Absolutely- further to that, if as Zogg says you want to rid yourself of salary and get an actual valued return, you trade the twin. They actually hold some measureable value around the league.

should add that I thought the core needed to change after 2012 loss to LAK.

Also Lefty, I can't see the Sedins being moved until the last year of their deal at the deadline as they won't fit under many teams cap.

Yes I think they are declining, I didn't say they're poop players. They're in fact still very good player. But declining, however slight, none the less.

Trading Miller gets you nothing. If you want to actually improve, trade the twins.

Understood - just speaking in hypotheticals here. On what would be the best case scenario going forward.

I don't actually expect them to move the twins or Miller in the next two years to be honest.

Anti-Kesler - check
Anti-Vantel-Sedin stance - check
Hattip to me - (thank you)

It would be nice to ship the twins to a team like MTL, take back a bad contract or two and get a bunch of picks and prospects but I doubt it happens.

Hypothetically speaking....trading the twins to say the Islanders for picks and prospects would really jumpstart your rebuild in a big way and you'd get off that middleling road to nowhere.

I think you can re-tool be on the fly, but you've gotta have some down years in there and draft really well outside of the first two rounds.

Yeah the Isles have the prospects, but they don't lack scoring. That's why I suggested a team like the Habs, although they don't have too many good prospects. A guy like Beaulieu would be nice, and a plethora of picks. We'd have to take some dead weight though.

I hope so... The dolphins have got rid of a lot of older players and are finally building through youth.... one team down; one to go... but unfortunately the canuck owners are as stubborn as my avatar.
