I'm guessing DW he has a rep for being difficult. - thundachunk
Essentially throwing JB under the bus then? What we do know is KB was house hunting DW also knew this, if he waited until the bottom of the 9th to drop that on JB, he is a POS and you either tell him to (frank) off, jack up the price and insist for a prospect and/or pick. Failing that we trade him Markstrom for a 5th & 7th next year. |

Wilson is known for being a jackass. That one is not on Benning. |

As teams around us get better this season and we fall, old core will start waiving to move on. JB can make his intentions known to them now by simply not signing anyone but some cheap depth after moving a old contract. |

What's weird is that if Benning and co. were really pissed, they wouldn't have talked trades again yet the McNally trade happened. Either the "Canucks are pissed" thing is overblown or just speculation or Benning is a very forgiving guy who doesn't hold grudges. |

Of course it's speculation by some media idiots on twitter, Benning never said he was "pissed" |

U gotta believe the Aquillinis send down a mandate to TL.
That being a playoff contender.
TL n JB both work under that mission goal hence a retool.
So far last year produced results.
JB hired WD n started his vision off n then made roster changes.
Vrbata signing indicated JB's skill n judgement on UFA's.
Dorsett n Richardson were further examples.
Vey n Sven n Clendenning dealt with depth issues that we lacked with nothing in Utica that was helping soon other than Corrado.
Upcoming season will prolly be both interesting n not playoff bound.
A good time for the transition process to show progress.
The 2-3 yrs with NTC's expiring n good prospects seasoned n ready look bright.
It won't get the nob totally done but 2-3yrs much can change n prospects will boom or bust n dictate where we stand.
Much work yet to do n changes be ongoing but 2-3yrs is a long time to see the New Canucks on ice. - Nighthawk

I think Wilson being the 'veteran' was trying to pull a fast one on the rookie GM JB and JB told him to shove it up his ass. Probably changed the deal at the last minute like Nonis did in the Lou deal to TO. |

Could very well be, I would hope so for JB. If KB goes somewhere else it's pretty well confirmed. |

Still don't know who dropped the ball on the KB deal JB or DW? - VanHockeyGuy
Based on the information leaked out, and also using common sense (i.e. it was always going to be a 2nd rounder for Bieksa straight up and there were no other negotiating 'intricacies' involved), you've got to believe it was Wilson that nixed the deal at the last moment. If that was the case, I too would be pissed off, especially given that the Canucks focus was on moving up via the trade and they had worked on this deal for some time (according to sources and even some of the comments made by Benning).
As someone pointed out, maybe it was Wilson trying to take advantage of a rookie GM and hence not worried about the fall out. Sh*tty move if that's the case |

Sharks agree to five-year deal with Brenden Dillon at about 3.2 per, so unlikely KB signs a 3 year at 12 mil. Well played Mr. Wilson well played. |
