I agree it's just tough to see your leading goal scorer 2 straight years on the third line. Even though bulk of his goals come on pp. - Tfaehner
So why not try Schenn-Couturier-Simmonds? Let Read and Couturier stay together on the PK, and use Read on the 3rd? |

why is nothing happening isn't today rfa day ? - -davies-
Qualify offers have to be tendered today, to retain RFA rights. Any non tendered RFA hits UFA market |

Supposedly a lot of team very interested in Frolik, he's going to get a premium. Might end up getting ovr $5mm...at that price, no interest - Jsaquella
I wouldn't mind Hextall giving a contract to an older FA, if it was only for one year. Flexibility for 16-17 is key with Voracek, Couturier, BSchenn and Raffl all needing new deals.
Maybe Glencross would take a one year deal at $4m? He gets a big pay raise in exchange for less security, and the Flyers get a stopgap LW who will be gone by next summer.

Yeah, Soderberg set the market for middle-6 versatile forwards. I really liked him as a player, but damn! Frolik, too. |

Not against a short term deal to a vet, agree that flexibility is vital for the new deals. I think they have a couple of moves left, in terms of trades. |

God I wish Vinny is off the squad. Ganger is young, hungry, and determined to prove he belongs in the league. Where as Vinny is old and could give 0 f@cks about playing here.
I know cap issues make these types of decisions hard, but I really don't see a reason why Ganger can't be in your bottom 6 in a nightly basis. - MatveiDmitrii

Belesky already turned down a $4mm x 4 year deal from the Ducks, he's gunning for $5mm+, too. |

Damn right. At the beginning of time, he came up with a plan for eternity. And now you want him to change his plan just because Holmgren gave a guy a bad contract? Seems pretty selfish.

The discrepancies in his skating ability certainly is puzzling.
Agreed. The last thing we need is another mediocre skater - DaveofYork
In this case, I will go with the OHL Coaches Poll and the Flyers scouts, who had more viewings.

He would've been traded for a past his prime vet years ago because that filled an immediate need and the Flyers didn't rebuild, they reloaded - every freaking offseason under Holmgren.
There's something to be said for wanting to win, there's something else, much less pleasant to be said for having the worst farm system in the entire NHL on a regular basis.

I sent time watching Gagner highlights and also some random Coyotes games from last season. He didn't stand out as either good or bad, but given the weak FA class, and the prices that it seems guys like Belesky and Frolik are getting, hanging onto Gagner and giving him a one year audtion is the way to go.
I'm off the fence, might as well keep him. Worst case he sucks and is gone in a year. If he plays well and demands too much for an extension, trade him for picks at the TDL. If he agrees to a friendly deal and fits in, you got a solid player for cheap. Might as well see what he can do in a year where they're not likely to contend - Jsaquella
Scott Laughton in my opinion still has a lot to prove within the top 9. I already had interest in Nazim Kadri but Sam Gagner would be as good within the same role. For me it's a no brainer to keep Gagner. What I'd like to know is, can the Flyers make any changes on July 1st as it stands? |
