secondary UFA market better than some anticipated. not great, but maybe some bargains out there if they are more concerned about lineup fit or just filling holes in general.

Barberio and Moore are two Dmen names that jump out.

I thought Barberio was the better prospect between him and Gudas. Was surprised to see Sustr get more time then Barberio in the playoffs, but I only caught so many Tampa games, so probably am wrong.

Anyone buy into Kevin Shattenkirk getting moved? The Blues do have to sign a lot of players this summer.

Flyers re-sign VandeVelde to a multi-year extension

Per Seravalli 2 years, $712,500 AAV

Fantastic signing. Kid's such a gamer. He's like Knuble lite - less top line ability but more snarl and role-playing ability. Great job yet again Hexy.

Yeah, he played pretty well, even outside the bonus offense, for the Flyers. Its a nice cheap hit and if he plays as solid as he did last season, it's great

Yeah totally. He showed some real nice skills in front of the net with deflections as well as in the corners/along the boards. Found money really every time he scores.

He and PEB were a pretty effective PK unit, as well

I also love that he played one game with the Phantoms last year and scored 2 goals.

I remember when he started getting into games and gaining more trust from the coaches and getting some shifts as the season wore on. It was really encouraging to see him grow as a player and gain confidence while remaining defensively responsible.

Interesting how Hextall is confident in a multiyear deal being worked out with MDZ at least according to Timmy P

How many options does MDZ have? Is anyone going to offer sheet him?

Doubtful. Either way a 2 year deal is what I'd like to see hopefully with a cap hit not north of 4M per.

No offer sheet. But no one is holding a gun to his head to get a multiyear deal done. I guess he likes him

I'd prefer something along the lines of 2 years for no more than $3.5mm each.

Well, two years is multi year...I'm guess Del Zotto wants a bit more security

Not going for more than 2 years...He had a very good season, still not sold. Sign a two year deal, see how he plays next season. If he has a repeat, then discuss a new contract for more term.

Definitely, I wouldn't go for more than a 2 year deal.
