Hextall is going to spend his summer by getting rich selling ice scrapers to people in Mexico

I don't know.

Hextall is turning water into wine.

Vinny could be the next move followed by MacDonald

Just under 22% of all third rounders chosen 1995-2006 had even a modest NHL career.

Yes, even a small chance like that is better than nothing, but it's not highway robbery from that perspective.

To me the magic is that ZR is someone else's problem, and frankly, I'd have been happy with zero return.

If Hextall cleared both Vinny and AMac off the books this summer, in addition to clearing space in the Grossmann deal, it would rival Michael Corleone taking out the heads of the 5 families.

Hard to tell. You do still have to sign Hamilton and that might be an issue on top of the trade requests from Boston. Reports are saying Hamilton is looking for over 7 mil in his new contract. Gods know what the term might be but you have to think it starts at 5 yrs.
- mayorofangrytown

yeah.
IDK, I think if I am edmonton, I take the shot.
I think this works out great for Calgary.
Girodano is still the man there so Hamilton doesn't have to carry the whole thing

I would of been happy for a 6th round pick it took to draft him

I feel like it's only a matter of moments before Shaggy and Scooby rip off Don Sweeney's mask, to reveal Paul Holmgren underneath.

Best 3 consecutive days for the Flyers in a very very very long time... holy poop

Hexy has just traded one of the worst FW in the NHL, one of the slowest and worst dmen in the NHL, and a retired guy for Sam Gagner and 2 3rds.

Calgary is a tremendous landing spot for Hamilton.

My big takeaway is, and thank the gods it continues today, Sweeney can't get out of his own way so far in Boston.

don't care don't care we got rid of rinaldo and a 3rd round pick
- 2Real

I'm talking more about trading away Hamilton for picks then having 3 first round picks in a row and going off the board. maybe the players pan out but it seems as they maybe they could have traded back and got those players.

But how much more can you do with a 3rd?
especially with what will likely be a high 3rd round pick?

- nastyflyergirl

The Lucic deal was fine -- maybe they retained a little too much salary, but the return was ok

But the Hamilton deal was straight garbage, everyone knows it

No one knows for certain how draft picks are gonna go, but they certainly didn't do themselves any favors with the fans by going off the board twice in three picks
