I dig the Goth look of that chick. Although, the fact that she dresses like that leads me to believe it is another one of Holmgren's failures as a GM.

He has to be forced into that position know. You cant shove him in a defensive role and expect scoring. Give hin 2nd line duties with skilled players. An injured Umberger and a struggling Matt Read are not going to help his numbers. Not only that, what has Schenn shown that Coots hasn't?

Streit has absolutely made this team better since he has arrived and if we traded him tomorrow, we would absolutely be a worse team. Aside from his point production, Streit has been a great locker room guy and leader for this team and leads by example each game he's out there. Probably one of the more ideal veteran guys you would want around for these young prospects we have coming up in the near future. Even though he could be traded and bring us more assets, which is even more of a plus to have him.
- arichardson22

Well right now we are at the point of Deal Streit or Deal MDZ. Doesnt look like we can have both

So you want Hextall to repeat the same mistakes of previous Flyers GMs? Go old and win now at all costs? It's going to take time to fix the damage Holmgren did.
- jstross

completely missing my point.

What we are having a hard time grasping is why you think having Striet prevents any of that? Mention AMAC fine. Schenn, fine. VLC, fine. RJ, fine.

Striet has been a bargain and lived up to every dollar of his contract so far.

but on the other guy's post you can agree... make up your mind.

LOS ANGELES -- The Los Angeles Kings have terminated the contract of forward Mike Richards, the club announced today.

The club has issued the following statement and will not comment any further at this time:

“The Los Angeles Kings today have exercised the team's right to terminate the contract of Mike Richards for a material breach of the requirements of his Standard Player's Contract. We are not prepared to provide any more detail or to discuss the underlying grounds for the contract termination at this time.”

So, uh, is this different from a buyout then?

MB, hockey opinions are binary. Once two people disagree on a thing, you may only think one or the other, and only in an absolute fashion.

There are zero shades of gray.

Interesting wording. I wonder if this is a different situation than a straight buyout? Seems like it would be.

They are likely saying that Richards violated some term of the contract.

IOW, this is probably going to get real ugly.

Makes it sound as if he did something to void his contract.. Didnt know there were violations in the players contract that could void them.

that as well.
except edmonton.
which, if they wanted the best return possible was stupid. they probably could have gotten 2 skilled roster forwards for Hamilton.

- nails

They tried to trade him to Edmonton but Sweeney wanted Darnell Nurse and for Edmonton that was a non starter.

This is exactly how rumors get started..

I would think there would be some sort of drug/alcohol treatment center stay prior to this.

Maybe their loophole is the fact that Lombardi wanted him in better shape, he didn't get in better shape, bang violation of contract?

Interesting none the less.

Oh, my.

That sounds like he got caught doing something.

Because everyone knows that they want cap relief, and that they've tried to trade him, and that they were buying him out.

The only way you try to terminate his deal is if he straight-up got caught doing something
