There is a very long list of guys I'd rather see in the lineup over Rinaldo
Laughton
Cousins
White
VDV
Leier
the zamboni driver
the ice girls
edit: hell, even Umberger
 - BiggE
OK, you crossed the line
I was ok up to the Zamboni driver and the ice girls |

I don't think Gagner staying would make it too much harder for Laughton to make the NHL. I think if we keep him, the intention will be to use him on the wing. At this point, assuming we resign MDZ and hoping we resign VV and Zepp, a possible depth chart would be
Raffl-Giroux-Voracek
Schenn-Couturier-Gagner
Read-Laughton-Simmonds
Umberger-VandeVelde-Bellemare
Lecavalier
With Rinaldo in the AHL.
Shultz-Streit
Del Zotto-Schenn
Medvedev-MacDonald
Manning
Mason
Zepp |

If they don't buyout Gagner, I have to think that there is an agreement in place with VLC to terminate on July 2nd. - BiggE
I am delving into all current and obscure religions and the occult to influence the termination to happen. Rain dance, incense, painting the body blue ( stonehenge reference- from the movie King Arthur) whatever it takes.
Hire the terminators body double to influence Vinny...
I am even looking at Greek and Egyptian mythology for this....
Watching old versions of the 300 Spartans and the Ten Commandments
Would you donate some aged scotch as a sacrifice for the cause....

Yeah.
That was all contingent on him growing up and becoming a professional hockey player. Which is a round the clock 365 day a year job if you want to stay successful. Richards has never been what you call a gym rat or a fitness freak, which kind of sucks because his best friend Carter is both of those things.
Richards career is most likely over because it was his own fault, no one else's. - MBFlyerfan
I personally think that Richard's career has stalled is far more due to desire than to fitness. He was never a fitness freak, as you alluded to, and never a highly gifted player in terms of skill or skating. His sheer will made him the player he was. I think winning all the championships he did, has left him without much desire to play the game.

And you don't think that maintaining a high fitness level is paramount when factoring in desire? They are one in the same as far as I am concerned.

I don't see them as the same. Richards was never a workout demon even when he was playing at a high level as a Flyers. I think fitness is a part of it, because as you get older, it becomes more important. I think the biggest factor is he just doesn't want it as bad anymore, and it's not as important to him now. I'm speculating that he is happy with what he has accomplished, and feels that he doesn't have anything else left to prove. He'd rather enjoy life in the Summer, at his lakeside cottage then to work out every day.
The biggest problem is that he had a talk with his GM, and may have made some promises to Lombardi, that he didn't follow through on. |

Also, it'd be cool if Dillabough could handle NHL goaslie coach and development coach. Imagine years down the line, if one of our prospects becomes our starter (or even our backup). Dillabough will know that goalie down to the creases of his palms. It'd potentially be amazing for goalie-goalie coach chemistry. |

Gudas will probably be in the lineup. Definitely going to be interesting how the defense pans out. Especially if one of Morin/Sanheim/Ghost make it out camp

Right, oops. If Schenn stays I think Gudas will start out of the top 6 but will rotate into it very often. If Schenn goes he'll be top 6 no doubt |

I think Schenn or MacDonald will be gone by opening day. |

Too much to ask, IMO. Flyers will need him on-ice daily with the NHL goalies, in press box for games, in locker room. etc. When he is supposed to, say, fly to Sweden to check in with Sandström? Already pushes the goalie coach to have him working with the Phantoms guys on top of NHL ones. |

What did we get in return for Schenn and MacDonald. Did we retain any salary? |

It remains to be seen what Lecavalier is willing to give up. |
