Rinaldo was a low risk singing. Up till this year some people saw upside to his game and thought that lapeierre could maximize his potential. He really looked good in preseason with akeson and PEB. However I think it is clear now that he doesn't have a NHL role other then a healthy scratch 13 forward. I hope they send him down to phantoms and he figures out his game, and hopefully one day he cracks a fourth line somewhere else as a controlled engery guy.

As for schultz, I liked the deal. He is good enough to play in our top 6 and most teams in the NHL. I think at any point in the season they could trade him with ease. Him and streit will be nice pieces at the deadline IMO

He could be waived, but I'd rather keep him, unless Hextall has a specific guy in mind and needs space to do it. It's an easy, one year commitment, and if he sucks, he's gone
- Jsaquella

Yeah, like Allin said, guy should at least be pretty motivated in a contract year.

If he could just help Simmonds get some easier ES attempts, or help PP2 get set up as the QB...

I don't think he's the kind of player you win with, long term, at the highest level. But he does have a skillset, and experience, in doing a couple of things at the NHL level that could be useful next season

He's definitely not Mr. Right. But he could be Mr. Right Now, for a season

I know Hextall said that their Pro Player meetings were today and he could still get waived tomorrow, but I do believe that Gagner surviving today's waiver deadline is a positive for him -- like everyone else, I don't think he is any kind of savior whatsoever, but on the one year he has left on his deal, I'd be curious if he can bring an element to the team that they've lacked

I mean, let's look at it this way: The last few guys they've brought in on "prove it" deals have been pretty freaking good for them

- AllInForFlyers

Someone brought the fact that he is likely to be hungry.

Playing for a new contract, kid on the way, maybe many teams around the league viewing this as his last shot. Those factors for me are enough to give him a shot.

What's the harm in giving him a shot? If he sucks, oh well, he's gone in the summer. If he plays decent, but isn't really a piece moving forward, then trade him for a pick

I'm fine with playing him with Simmonds, but you better make sure the other guy on that line is strong defensively or it will be a matchup nightmare.

Hell, at this point, he's on our top pair. And that is why I'm thrilled they added Provorov to a group of Sanheim, Morin and Ghost. You cannot have enough top D prospects in the pipeline, especially when your current group lacks ANY legit top pair guys.

OK, Bob McKenzie confirmed Hodgson & Stalberg on unconditional waivers for buyouts and Richards, Parenteau & Fistric all cleared.
- Jsaquella

I remember when the 12 year deal was supposed to be a great deal for the Flyers because Richards would be great for years and underpaid by the end of the contract.

That's what I'm hoping.

Heck he may have his 2nd 8 point game when they play the Yotes

He'll be 34 in October. I like the guy, but I have no interest in way overpaying for him which is what some GM is going to do.

I'd re-sign White and run him out there with them; White's not a Selke winner but he will backcheck and play the system

that could work. I'd also consider Laughton and move Gagner to wing, if Laughton earns the spot in camp.

There is a very long list of guys I'd rather see in the lineup over Rinaldo
Laughton
Cousins
White
VDV
Leier
the zamboni driver
the ice girls

edit: hell, even Umberger

I am hoping they bring that dude back -- I had seen him play before in Montreal, and he was extremely undisciplined, took horrible penalties. It was why they cut him loose

The guy I saw last year looked like a player you could trust -- hell, he looked like what I hoped Umberger would be

Buffalo is going to buy out young 20 goal scorer Cody Hodgson. Money will be on the cap for 7 years I believe at about 700k the last 4 years

Yeah.

That was all contingent on him growing up and becoming a professional hockey player. Which is a round the clock 365 day a year job if you want to stay successful. Richards has never been what you call a gym rat or a fitness freak, which kind of sucks because his best friend Carter is both of those things.

Richards career is most likely over because it was his own fault, no one else's.
