If a team like Chicago can overpay with 2 picks for a guy like Timonnen ...

Absolutely. Teams taking a run at a cup will likely overpay at the deadline. Best to wait until then.

Problem is once the cat is out of the bag... It's best to move him quickly.

We seen his best when he is interested. A disinterested Bieksa would likely drive his value down.

We'd get the best return at the TDL, but I'd prefer they work something out before the season starts. We've got more than one RFA that need the ice and I don't want to watch almost a full season of dead player walking.

That already fell through though did it not?
I don't think he would want to go to Edm. Not many do. I was just trying to gauge his value to canuck fans.

I don't see why Wilson's deal is considered off the table... It was Benning who pulled back. Maybe they can revisit the 2nd for him now that the draft is over done with. That was his focus.

San Jose traded that second, didn't they?

Maybe he'll take you out fishing one day...
- bloatedmosquito

Not going to happen... besides, I already had to battle an eagle for a fish this season. He did 4 swoops before deciding it was too big. That would be a battle...

Ya dont let JB near contracts, he'll give guys the farm. Id rather have a communal system of management. One guy does contracts, another trades, another scouts. Then you grt a guy that fits that job precisely and not expecting 1 guy to be stellar at it all which is unrealistic. Instead of gm changes you remove the part you arent happy with.

I agree. I think the Canucks would be smart to build their office with some more experience soon. It's not just the roster that needs time to develop either.

Pull a TML and give Holland 50 mil over 8 years and turn Benning into the AGM in charge of scouting/player development.

Kevin bieksa's value has been sliding since the cup run...if you can get a 2nd for him that is more than fair value....his value won't increase ...

My point exactly. And Assis GM on contracts. Then ufa decisions by committee

. Like coaching staff. One guy runs D, another special teams etc.... your pp sucks you get a new assistant coach not the whole staff or head coach.
Perhaps that would have saved MG job. He was decent at getting guys to sign for less.....unless we're talking sundin or loungo that is.

You know looking at it it may be time to try gulatzen in a bigger role on the bench. Trsde roles with lidster abd see what happens.

Right. If you have 1 guy doing all this it isnt gonna all work. Get a draft specialist....we have that. A guy whos a wizard with contracts and value and cap issues. Another whos a pick pocket trader. Theres some clever guys out there for that.

It gets convoluted if all in 1. Each job gets done half assed. Screw that.

Oh ya and the oresident oversees coaching staff. That way no gm can come in bringing his guys.

I don't disagree, but teams overpay at the deadline. It happens.

I'm happy with a 2nd.

Personally? I have been done watching him since 2011.

2012 was just the exclamation point.

Almost need to trade him before the season starts. If Corrado and clendening are waiver eligible, he's taking a roster spot from them.

Burrows to Nashville for a 2nd.
Higgins to Florida for a 3rd.

The pick from the draft I disliked the most would be Adam gaudette. 28 pt in 48 games in the ushl is unspectacular to say the least even for a fifth rounder. He is also a Center.

I've also decided that we need 2 top 10 picks for next season. So Van can draft Jacob from Sarnia Sting and Tyler Benson from the Vancouver Giants. Get it done JB. Man my day is so much more productive when I wake up at 6 am.

Not sure if it was covered already, but what would a realistic return for bieksa be from the Oilers. If for some crazy reason he were to accept a trade there. I think he would be a great fit with the young oil team.

JB is asking for a 2nd rounder.

Not sure about 2 but 1 may be doable. If Miller goes down and the status quo remains on the D, I say we don't qualify for post season.
