Booner is easily one of the top Canuck posters on this site, he rubs some people the wrong way but at least he's not posting about waiving Kevin Bieksa or trying to trade Jensen, Higgins and a 1st for Ryan Johansen type of ideas.
And this is coming from someone who's gotten into a heated argument with him before. - EagleNuck
Where do those come from ? |

Why? He's going to have a bounce back season? Isn't it more likely he will regress even further as he ages? - bloatedmosquito
There's reasons to believe that keeping him until the TDL makes some sense:
1) Can help mentor Corrado/Clendening
2) Play him with Hamhuis or basically anyone not named Sbisa and he'll be better. Whoever plays with Sbisa will look worse than they are. He's arguably not even NHL-worthy
3) He has a track record of playing well during contract years. This is his last chance to get a good 3/4 year contract.
4) Vets are worth more at the TDL while picks are worth more at the draft. Kimmo Timonen was traded for a 2nd and 3rd despite being almost done in the NHL.
That all being said, if he got traded for a 2nd rounder tomorrow I would consider that to be a fair return. |

I believe this has been touched on before, but obviously JB took a gamble in keeping the pieces that got us into the playoffs...if we had made a little noise and Matthias played well, he might've been re-upped.
As we know, this didn't happen and he was let go.
Trading assets now is a different scenario in my opinion.
I still think we'll mobe KB3 and maybe a fwd as team's roster needs become apparent after the dust settles from free agency frenzy.
I see us having some growing pains, introducing young players and selling some assets at the TDL. - dbot
Yeah, but we all knew that Mathias wasn't the type of player to go to the hard areas and usually those guys don't do well in the playoffs. He wasn't significant in the Calgary series, and that doesn't mean that another team won't pay him mega bucks to try to get him to do that though, they will. I just believe JB should've traded him for a 2nd round pick and then we wouldn't be talking about Brock Boeser as our upside forward in the draft.

Because D always go high at the deadline. Just two years ago Douglas Murray fetched 2 2nds. There's no reason to thing Bieksa can't fetch one. - whosyodaddy
He could but I'm not very optimistic about anything canuck these days. Like all fans we overvalued our 'team' guys. |

Bieksa is one of the only guys that other fan bases seem to value more than us. Regardless, if it's a sellers deadline we could have a good year with Bieksa and Vrbata. |

Nobody ever gets excited about vanilla.
Not exciting enough, doesn't hit, doesn't score.

I think they already traded Marincin, so a 2nd it is
Or Marincin moving was another rumour or proposal. - hillbillydeluxe

Our GM is a scouting guru, the rest...not quite sure yet bud. - VanHockeyGuy
Ya dont let JB near contracts, he'll give guys the farm. Id rather have a communal system of management. One guy does contracts, another trades, another scouts. Then you grt a guy that fits that job precisely and not expecting 1 guy to be stellar at it all which is unrealistic. Instead of gm changes you remove the part you arent happy with. |

That Gay Pornfest last night resulted in bans to approximately 12 people from the EDM forum. Hopefully the length of the ban is appropriate. - VanHockeyGuy

I'd wait until the deadline, the value will rise. - whosyodaddy
If a team like Chicago can overpay with 2 picks for a guy like Timonnen ...
Absolutely. Teams taking a run at a cup will likely overpay at the deadline. Best to wait until then.
Problem is once the cat is out of the bag... It's best to move him quickly.
We seen his best when he is interested. A disinterested Bieksa would likely drive his value down. |

Agree with this. It can turn into a circus pretty quick and the season will turn into the KB3 farewell tour. |
