Needed to realize the cup chances were gone and the ageing core needs to be moved for more picks. When is the last time we traded someone for a first rounder. Not in the past 15 years I don't think.

Oh (frank) forgot about Schneider

What would you guys think about maybe kicking the tires on a guy like Sharp?

Priced too high, he's more of a contender piece.

Frolik will be a Canuck. He'll replace Vrbada and be traded in 2 years like Vrbada.

I know. Bet he is affordable though. I think Higgins is off the books this season too so trading wingers for picks and signing these 2 year deals works. Quick turn over into assets.

I am all for giving JB a little rope and try this retool on the fly.

Pretty amazing seeing what Boston just did with the assets they have. Even though they missed the playoffs, thought they were a better team than the Canucks. More skill and some of the heavy play. And the have a real shake up.

So even though I am personally not against trading some players for picks, would love to see Edler traded for a first with his honky back , I am trying to figure out how JB is going to accomplish this retool, what players or sort of players he is going to target, and how is he going to obtain these players while still making the playoffs?

Who is going to fill the void with Edler gone?

I am pretty open to a lot of these moves knowing the silver lining of not making the playoffs is getting a good draft position. JB better hold onto his picks!

Anaheim and calgary have the best D in our division. LA if doughty gets some help. Then probably canucks are still ahead of the oilers.

He wants between 4.5-5 per season on a long term deal. He's only 27.

Feels kind of like Boston was having some issues in the room last season - could be lots of brash characters like Lucic, Marchand, and now there is some talk of Hamilton. Maybe they just need a refresh.

If the Flyers buy out Gagner, I'd take a flyer on him if the price was right.

No slight intended, really. Marwood asked me a question yesterday so I answered him.

some plug that's who. We don't need someone as good unless we are getting someone young who can be apart of the core for years.

We aren't bashing the oilers man. Just said you still have some holes on crucial parts of your roster.
- manvanfan

Newbie here, The oilers have the ability to be a much improved team if Talbot plays as well as he did with NYR. If he does then the Nucks could be in trouble holding onto a playoff spot. I've already said in another forum that I don't think that the Nucks will make it this year, Cal man adding Hamilton there defence is going to me monster.

Benning's asset management needs some help. On one hand he says that we wanted picks but he let Mathias stay at the trade deadline when we could have gotten a 3rd or maybe a 2nd round pick for him. They trade Lack because they said they didn't want him to get away for nothing as a free agent next year. Huh, didn't you just do that with Mathias, Richardson?

Is the oilers D as good as the Rangers who have one of if not the best D in the league? Definitely will be a struggle to keep our playoff spot. Maybe after missing the playoffs JB will see that sitting on his thumbs will get him left behind.

Hard to tell if it is addition by subtraction, have to wait and see.

Always interesting to see who fills the void after these trades.

And I think it is easier to make these moves after not making the playoffs...

I believe this has been touched on before, but obviously JB took a gamble in keeping the pieces that got us into the playoffs...if we had made a little noise and Matthias played well, he might've been re-upped.

As we know, this didn't happen and he was let go.

Trading assets now is a different scenario in my opinion.

I still think we'll mobe KB3 and maybe a fwd as team's roster needs become apparent after the dust settles from free agency frenzy.

I see us having some growing pains, introducing young players and selling some assets at the TDL.

Talbot also played in front of a pretty good defense in NY so ill be interested to see how he handles it when the wheels fall off and he has to save a barage of shots because alot of people said that Scrivens was going to be our guy but you could tell he has missed playing in front of a Kings defense

Younger is certainly better but the potential doesn't guarantee the development. I'm all for it, but JB's priority is to make the playoffs. so I'm just keeping an open mind, taking a step back and seeing if I can see any larger plan.

Just want him to hold onto his picks. The scouting gm should have his picks on draft day.
