Leafs draft, The good, The bad, The ugly

Worst blog ever. WE get it that you're against Marner only because of his size, but he outscored Domi badly BTW. Let's not go overboard. |

ONE top Four D-man? We needed one top four D-man before we traded way our best defenseman.
Now we need:
1-a Top pairing D-man to replace Hamilton AND
2-another top four D-man to replace Boychuk from last offseason.
That's also based on the hope that:
1-Chara returns to a solid shut down Top pairing guy AND
2-Seidenberg returns to form as a solid #3 D-man.
The hope from some Kool-aid drinkers in Boston is that Sweeney swings a deal for Seabrook........I guess Sweeney is really high on getting him, supposedly.
So if we were to get a guy like that and sign either Franson OR Sekera we would have a solid D-core..........BUT, to be honest I think that would cost too much and put us over the CAP. So I have know idea what the hell is going on there. - JIwasinskiJr
Seabrook would be big enough that I think the Bruins could get by. We still need a first line goal scorer as well. Does not look good. Maybe buyout Kelly

I agree with the Seasbrook assessment, as he is a top pairing guy, so would replace Hamilton.
But we still need a second pairing plug in.......not even a simple upgrade, but a player, because as it stands right now I have a hard time thinking that Quaider, Krug, Morrow, or Trotman are going to be able to handle top FOUR responsibilities for a reasonable club.
Unless they say screw it and rebuild.......then I'm fine with simply playing the kids we have left.
Which is SUPER IRONIC that all the kids we have left to play D are ALL OLDER than Hamilton......
EDIT: we have ONE LWer right now!
EDIT2: we have Bergy and Marchand and Ericksson to kill penalties. All of our PK guys are gone now too, if Kelly were to leave.........talk about a new look!
EDIT3: I wish someone would just slap the sh** out of CJ........I'm just sick of hearing him talk about anything. |

What does this have to do with the Bruins? - Schenn-Sational!
he's looking for kudos from Bruins fans?
I'm still so f.ing upset from draft day, you could argue that they grabbed the players they targeted, and were rich enough in pics it didn't matter, but wtf... what happened to taking the best player available? They should look at how the patriots do things, some love for veterans but not so much they won't say Bu-bye. I think they should have traded a pic for next year. how many bodies in the system do they need? |

As an outsider looking in I was rather baffled at some of those moves....I could understand one of them for possible cap purposes but by the sounds of it you guys didnt even take the best deal for Dougie (no im not a bitter Oilers fan but I read Arizona had the best package on the table) I dont blame the fanbase for being angry at all |

Still cant get over what happened Friday. This organization is turning into an absolute sinkhole. The return for Hamilton was embarssing and to make it even worse they choose a guy that we could have gotten at 37 or 45. It's an absolute (frank)ing travesty.
I couldn't believe the arrogance of Julien's comments saying it's a shame that young players are asking to be paid top dollar. Sickened me to hear that. What does that say for any young kid coming into the organization? That even if he proves to be one of their teams top players at a young age, they still aren't going to get paid as much as their veterans. Why shouldn't dougie get paid Chara money right now? The real shame is that our (former) 21 year old kid has outplayed our norris winning defenseman.

The spinning is starting too! Just like with Seguin. "Nobody liked him. And he was a loner.........blah, blah, blah. He was uppity."
------------------
Leaking out...FYI
They offered him $5.5 for six........
He responded with $7.5-7 for six............
(this is usually where you counter with "okay. Fine. $6.5 for six years. Deal!" And then you hug it out)
Instead we traded our best defenseman.........
And as I have said before he "was" also one of our youngest defensive players in all of the organization (younger than the rookies that will be forced to play up for them next year.)

I'm Honestly getting tired of hearing those guys talk. As I said, CJ's comments were embarassing, and for sweeney to come out and say "we are working to continue to try and improve this hockey club" after trading two of our core pieces (one of whom who is a large part of the future) insane. How can you sit there and expect the fans to beileve in what you're saying. This organization is currently being run by a bunch of pompous, arrogant douchebags , headed by Neely and jacobs and it's gotten out of hand. Somebody with brains needs to step in their quick, or this franchise will be in trouble for a long time

Simple reason at the end of the day.
"They don't realize that they suck yet."
It's always scary when you have to wait for coaches and management to accept that they really are not very good.
Scary year ahead! |

Heard this rumor watching the draft and almost puked. Would have been the end of the road for me. How can you support a team like that? These past couple days have been hard enough and have tested my loyalty, although not looking forward to the next 5 years |

Again, for what it's worth voice of reason here,
Boston couldn't get Senyshen in the second round as Toronto and Oilers wanted him with their late firsts. So, people can complain about an off the board pick, but we wouldn't have gotten him in the second round.
If the scouts feel this strongly about him, then their must be a reason...
The Debrusk pick was also great. Had more goals than anyone else left in the draft in a difficult league to score in (Or something like that). My buddy who is a huge wings fan was pissed because he was hoping Detroit was taking him. |

Could have taken their chances on Senyshen slipping to their 2nd pick or make a trade to move down later. Nick Merkley, who has 70 assists in 72 games this year went 30th for (frank) sakes. It was just a panic move by an amatuer GM in sweeney. Even if Senyshen turns out to be a decent NHLer it doesn't excuse sweeney for getting absolutely fleeced in this deal |

I really hope that the draft picks pan out. I wish the kids good luck and a great future. However, I think Sweeney and gang made terrible decisions.
I was extremely disappointed with the Bruins draft. I made my picks just prior to the Bruins selection (see below for team drafted and selection). Barzal, Connor and Sprong, Andersson were drafted immediately after the Bruins selection.
Pick # - My pick (Actual team and pick #) > Bruins pick
13 Zboril
14 Barzal (NYI - 16) instead of of DeBrusk
15 Connor (WPJ - 17) > Senyshyn
37 Kylington (CAL - 60) > Carlo
45 Sprong (PIT - 46) > Forsbacka-Karlsson
52 Rasmus Andersson (CAL - 53) > Lauzon
75 Vande Sompel (NYI - 82) > Vladar
105 Pilon (NYI - 147) > Gabrielle
165 Korostelev (TOR - 185) > Hughes
195 Paigin (EDM - 209) > J.Becker
Hopefully with all these selections a few will pan out. - Cyclones999
Yeah. Having Zboril, Barzel, Connor, Kylington, Sprong would have made Hamiton and Lucic going tolerable. I have to admit I'm happy with those two going because it was hard (frustrating) playing against those guys. Now you have 2 solid centers - Marchard as well - but on D, Chara is one his last legs.
Like at this point doesn't it make sense to tare down the whole thing no? Chara, Seindenberg, Kelly, Campbell, etc

Friday totally sucked the hockey life and energy out of me. So instead of responding to this with any sort of hockey insight, I submit a picture of an old man fashioning a canoe out of a log.
I think the question nagging us all, however, is: Will DotheDougie now change his hockeybuzz profile name? |

Chiarelli getting canned has more to do with the contracts that were handed out with NTC, but I think Neely and Jacobs are more to blame at this point than GM and coaches. Julien needs to keep his mouth shut since if this team doesn't make the playoffs he is going to be looking for a new job.
Looking at the D lineup come October
Chara-Seidenberg
McQuaid-Miller
Krug-Morrow(?)
This team will never get out of it's own end. Too slow to deal with the faster teams in the NHL.
(frank) me. |
