I find it hard to be envious of not winning something when we weren't part of the league .

Since our birth as a team we have the same amount of cups, and we have made it to the fourth round three times.

Lack just isn't worth that much. So much for the top 10 pick Darius was hoping for.

Canucks 3 times. Millionaires never played a 4rth round. That is the modern NHL...

Which means the Leafs have never been to the 4rth round in their entire existence. Never... nope, not once. Canucks have been way more successful in the modern NHL. Leafs havent even showed up yet in the modern NHL...

Actually he will have tragically killed himself following the 2018 Leafs re-rebuild

One name and one name only....... Although its attached to two people.

Bowman.

Proven winners. know what it takes. do things right.

Chicago as much as people hate them in this city, really know how to do it right. I admire that franchise.

- vancity787

The Bowmans are opportunists. They will attach themselves to a team just when they see that it's got a lot of Cup potential. Bowman did this with all his stacked teams in Montreal, but more recently with Detroit, Pittsburgh and now Chicago. Although I give him credit for the last cup run, given they had to shed quite a few assets after their first cup win. But, all in all, as I've said, I think Bowman is overrated. He seems to be at the right place at the right time and joins/inherits teams just as they are ready to go over the top.

i love how nucks fans try to decide when the window for an acceptable cup win is. they make it so it is convenient for their team, during a time where they did well for a few seasons. instead of using a team's franchise success which accurately displays how good the franchise has been. because we all know that would mean the nucks are just as successful as the sens, sabres etc.

quit trolling, you're just making the nucks look bad. there's nothing wrong with never winning a stanley cup. and i get it sucks having a terrible gm like gillis and now benning who doesnt seem like he knows what he is doing either. doesnt mean you should be trolling other teams though.

the hawks are a great team, the best right now. the leafs have started their rebuild and suck. the nucks will soon realize their window has closed and start rebuilding in 2-3 years. those are all facts. accept it, and we wont need to hear any of your trolling

I remember so many people claiming that the Hawks blew it all up after their first cup and it wasnt worth it. Then they won another.. and another.

Out of all the teams in the NHL, I admire their success the most now. They just keep making the right moves and getting it done.

My first criticism of Gillis was not firing AV and hiring Quenville. I had already soured on AV and really liked JQ.

- boonerbuck

As long as they commit to the core, which they have, they'll continue to succeed if they surround them with a decent group of players.

Getting that core together is the absolute key though.

It would be to no surprise that teams ready for their push would come knocking on his door. It's like I said earlier, we have to take an honest look at JB if that time arrives here. I'm sure this philosophy is common. I hope we could find our own Bowman when that day arrives.

Our worse GM's in the last 15 years were Nonis and Burke... it was embarrassing, 28 other teams were laughing at us. There was this one team though that couldn't see it and they hired those two asshats to run their team into the ground... who was that again... ?

As Stu Elmes just put it...

"So let’s all just calm down a bit.

Its time to batten down the hatches and accept the fact that the next two seasons are going to be all about patience.

The Canucks will get some nice juicy high draft picks, and we will get to watch this new team take shape.

It’s a tall order, I know. It’s going to require some intestinal fortitude from our long-suffering fan base."

To me, JB is a transition GM like Nonis was, someone who make some moves that will get us close before a Gillis type comes in to try and take us over the top.

I agree(not about nonis)... but JB's best work will probably be somewhere else one day after he learns from mistakes on the Canucks.

Nonis got us Luongo but his only notable draft class was only a month after Burke was let go and all the years work had been done under him. Burke made the playoffs in his final year here but things starting reversing under Nonis... then forward movement again once he was fired. After seeing Nonis in Torornto later, I have to say things go backwards when he's the GM.

This:

With The Hockey buzz board, near the pitch of uproar,
I tuned to the draft, and a quarter till four.
I wondered and pondered, as I sat
on the floor, which apostle would roll,
the stone from McDavids door?
WAS he the new Gretzsky?
Could this be a fluke?
The cameras panned Connor,
who looked like he might puke!
He can skateshootdefendblock, hot on the puck!
And the backstage interview,
well...awkward as F**k!
