so there hasn't been any movement since the Beleskey camp refusal of the 4x4 proposal of the Ducks?

I'm disappointed with Benning's and Linden's performance at the draft. The Patrick McNally deal was fine as he was never going to make the team. Selecting Brock Boeser was great in my books. He was one guy I thought would make a great Canuck. I didn't expect him to be available at 23rd. I am most frustrated and saddened by the loss of Eddie Lack. The Canucks have traded away 3 great goalies in a row: Luongo, Schneider, and now Lack. Markstrom was pretty good in the AHL, but his NHL numbers are terrible. This deal will backfire on the Canucks. And I am shocked to hear that the Canucks are reportedly trying to sign Markstrom long term. Why don't they see how poorly he plays first? That doesn't seem unreasonable to me.

Your criteria for great is kind of laughable. Schneider... hasn't rose anywhere near the top of the league and Lack hasn't even played a NHL season as a starter yet. He's a good back up.

Luongo was already past his prime when traded and wanted out.

None of these guys could fetch the Canucks a "great" return either.

Markstrom will be a UFA after his next contract I believe. If he turns out to have a good 1 or 2 seasons, the bigger risk is watching him walk as a free agent. At least you can waive him on a longer deal and bury him in the minors if need be. The owner clearly is willing to fund these moves.

But we do have the best 20 prospects in the world.... Just ask any Canucks fan, they think that they'll all pan out and be lines:

1a
1b
1c
1d

And pairings

1-a
1-b
1-c

And our goalies will both become legit top 5 starters in the league.

* I hope today's trades taught nuck fans some reality and showed our bias... We all thought Lack was great, turns out the highest bid in the league for him was an early 3rd and a 7th.

- I-own_da-Northwest

No - I think the fans, as a general statement, will always be homers

ok, should I write slower?

My question was whether or not there has been any subsequent offers to Beleskey (he allegedly turned down a deal of $4/4 - last week?)

Carol will probably cover this Kuzma story tomorrow. Here's what he's reporting as the Sharks offer. One second round pick for next draft. May as well shop around for a while longer. Whats the hurry?

The asking price was the Sharks’ second-round 2015 selection (39th overall) but it’s believed Benning was offered a second-rounder in 2016. You’d like to think he would have wanted a trade add-on in 2016 for waiting and doesn’t want a cloud of uncertainty hovering over Bieksa

Lou's attitude and his contract had to go...plain and simple.

Schneider netted us Horvat.

Lack was never gonna be a bonafide starter here.

It's ok man.

Type s-l-o-w-e-r

Haven't got a clue about him and really don't care? I was however commenting on Hamilton, because I was interested in why they traded him to Calgary.

Found out Sweeny wanted 2015 picks not 2016 picks; apparently they were convinced an offer was coming in for him.

In case you're interested.

so basically it was an offer-sheet type scenario?

P.S. the only reason I'm interested in Beleskey is precisely because he turned down the $4x4 offer (given so, you would think Beleskey and his agent are shooting for the stars with respect to a $5+ and term contract? which is fairly ridiculous given he's had ONE season where he scored 20 goals and that was last year.) and it will set a bit of a precedent for guys like Joel Ward who I presume would also be seeking similar numbers. This will give us a lot of insight as to the market dynamics

So I'm reading...compensation would have been 1-2-3 but they got 1-2-2 instead. Still a knucklehead move IMO. But they are saying Hamilton wanted to get paid, as in 7 million a year paid.

Also found out this guy doesn't like Jack Edwards

@RealJackEdwards You're the next idiot who should be traded.

people get so attached to a persons character and value that more than the on ice play. Lack has a great personality but is not a great goalie. He is good but not great. How many games last year did he let a softie in? How many games did he steal on his own? No one was lining up to take him and the highest offer was a 3rd and a 7th...so be it.

People wanted to go with Lack Markstrom last year as the tandem but now are worried about Markstrom as the back up? He just put in a stellar year and deserves at least that. People need to stop getting crushes on these hockey players...

Pretty sad. Some moron turns a bad draft into a gay pride fest. Buddy sad, you need serious help. And while I'm at it whoever (if anyone) is monitoring this thread, wake the (frank) up!

A homophone is a pairing of words that have the same phonetic sound yet have different spellings. For instance: knew; new
I believe the word you're looking for is homophobe
